It's been a while since I played Icewind now and I'm thinking of starting over. My first party was Ranger, Fighter Fighter/Thief, Necromancer, Druid and a Bard.

It was pretty effective, while the Ranger, Fighter and the Fighter/Thief used bows and Crossbows, the Druid, Necromancer and Bard bombarded the opponents with spells, usually I didnt even had to switch to swords.

Anyway now I Need tips to form a new party.
    Anyone got some??

I always wanted to try a party with just spellcasters, wizard, cleric, bard and druid.
I guess 2 Clerics, 2 wizards,1 bard and 1 druid, would be nice. I think that could be fun and challenging. Mayby a couple of them will start as fighters 2 or 3 levels and then dual class to wizards or cleric.
    Any ideas anyone?
Also thinking about trying that in BG.

may work. but IWD requires lots of brawlers. if you do so, make sure they all have 18/75+ strength. personally, I havent used spellcasters that much and I have just wiped out all the frost giants. the majority of spellcasting I have done has been entangle and web. it works wonders when you have a couple of rings of free action. i have a human ftr l9/ driud l11 that I plan on playing solo when I am done.

[IMG] I agree with Corval. IWD is a game for brawlers...Fighters, not Rangers or Paladins. Their limited weapon specialization and innate abilities aren't useful in IWD.

I have two fighters; one is a grandmaster w/a two handed sword and the other is a grandmaster w/axes, especially the two handed variety. They have become a wrecking crew.

    I back them up with a Fighter/Thief, a Mage, a Cleric, and a Bard.

The new and improved Bard is a necessity, but only if you have HoW installed.

  8. I always go with:
    Fighter
    Paladin
    Cleric/fighter
    Bard
    Thief
    Mage

I'm thinking of going for raw power the next time, with all warrior type classes and maybe one mage

do yourself a favor and add a druid. they rock in IWD.

I have just wiped out the frost giants' the mage' the black knghts, the white wyverns and all of the trolls and wolves with my palidin on his wn and hardly losing a hit point. (total loss 20).
They are the best class by far you must have one!

    I finished IWD with three groups but the best one i liked was;
    Paladin,fighter(dwarf),cleric,thief &
i used conjurer but i offer you to use mage(he can use all spells) and last,
fighter/druid(but his 3. level spells are useless i must say also his shapeshift is cool)

[IMG] You need a thief, a fighter and a mage. YOU NEED THESE. A cleric helps too. My 1st party really kicked ass:

Fighter- use a bastard sword+2:defender with Lady Ilmadia's shield and Bathed in Blood and your're on -10 (from memory)!

Paladin- use Pale Justice with the gnome shield in Lower Dorn's Deep.

    Cleric

    Mage/Thief

Bard- get Mail of Life or Elven Chain.

That party made it too easy, so i went with:

    Fighter
    Mage
    Thief
    Cleric

    And then:

    Fighter/Mage/Thief
    Cleric
    (Last combo way too hard!!!)

Having started to play my IWD about a year ago (and having to stop it because my copied CD refused to work inmidst the game) I remembered how melee heave IWD was.

So, when *buying* (yes, that´s the way!) the package IWD-HoW last week I therefore decided to build a tank party.

    My party consists of:
-Sir Donaluds: halfling paladin ;) using longswords, flails and maces (melee specialist)
-Alobar Steelfist: dwarven fighter - using (two handed) axes and (two handed - when I find one) hammers (melee man as well)
    -Messy Fentan: halfling bowfighter
-Barbarella: elven fighter-thief using longswords, shortswords and bows (IMHO more versatile and about as potent as a ranger) - with dex-19 she´s a marvellous archer as well.
-Layla al Basr: halfelven fighter-cleric, using slings, flails and maces (maybe a ranger-cleric would have been the better choice, resulting in her having some druid spells as well, oh well - too late now). Basically she´s my healer.
-Vandriel ;) : halfelven transmuter using daggers and misile weapons.

A ballanced party with melee strength and a good ranged weapon punch.
