Sorry for creating another thread on this topic, but I wanted to stay away from the 'energetic discussion' taking place in the other thread. Please forgive me.

Anyways, in the barrows of Buriel Isle of HoW, what I found that worked best for me was summoning four Earth Elementals and using missile attacks.

Have my thief hide in shadows and put him searching with the Earth Elementals. The barrow wights and drowned dead would attack the elementals with ineffective weapons, then my party would go after the wailing virgins with missile attacks, then the barrow wights, and finally, the drowned dead.

Survived quite nicely that way, with hardly any damage to my party.

i did essentially the same, except i also had my bard playing that song that makes the wailing virgins a moot point. i wish i could have used an invisibility spell on him so he wouldn't have been disturbed, but alas the program views songs as an invisibility breaking offence

[IMG] My bard didn't sing no dang songs. Between her and my fighter/thief, they nailed the high muckey-muck wailing virgin to the floor with arrows (it also helped that they both sucked down Potions of Speed before the battle actually began). In fact, these two never failed their saves, so they kept up a steady volley of arrows on the rest of the wailing virgin pack.

My fighters kept failing their saves, but luckily, they took turns with one another with feelings of hopelessness, so I never had both out of play at the same time.

Not so with my cleric and mage. They were totally useless. Neither one made their savings throw for the entire battle.

I definitely breathed a big sigh of relief when this battle was over, but it WAS FUN!

I didn't find this place difficult at all :)

    I just sent my fighter/thief, ranger/cleric
and bard to attack the monsters i saw, and
    they killed them all...

... of course I did use haste and the bard
song which gives you regeneration ...

... but those I use in almost every fight :)

[IMG] Great, sounds like i am the only one who is having a hard time in the Burial Isle, but I was playing Heart of Fury when i fought against those darn wailing virgins.
