crazy mage who kills the slaves

    I am having a heck of a time surviving in the room with the mage that kills his slaves have you talk to him. the umber hulks arnt to bad, would like to know how to counter there spells though. But the iron golems are the problem. I cant put a dent in them. Any suggestions?

    The umber hulks aren't casting spells.
    The confusion you get when fighting them is a natural trait of that species. (which is actually handy if they pop up when you cast a summon monster).

    As for the iron golem, my fighter was able to drop that thing with a +4 Axe. +3's may also be able to hit em.

    Did I say spell. I meant the umberhulks natural ability. The problem is my characters get caught in and go every which way hence getting clobbered by the golems. Is there a spell I can cast to counteract it?

    Assuming these are "standard" iron golems, they are unaffected by weapons with less than a +3 enchantment.

    The only way to avoid the umber hulk gaze is to get some sort of item that will make you immune to confusion and other stuff, I have some of those. This part also gave me trouble, but the thing is to go really slow. You might be even able to go outside and sleep to rememorize your spells and heal up.
