Uglidan is now up to lvl 50, and might I say that hunters rule for solo playing

    Warrior is up to 20
    Warlock is scratched
    Druid is 19
have new Troll shammy at 15
and new Undead Rogue at 22

Still love the game and I have figured out how to make decent cash in AH now.

You get it so easy. Priests have absolutely no way to defend themselves against fear-lock, so the only thing we can do against a warlock is run. The same goes for any rogue or a hunter with a silencing shot. They simply disable us and we're obsolete. :nolike:

I can understand it in the case of rogues, since it fits to their role as a anti-spellcaster unit, but it's rather ridicilous for a warlock. They simply place in their curses, fear-lock us, and/or tail for it while the damage kicks in for them. There is simply no risk involved. If I wanted to create a DPS class, that would definitely be a warlock (and not a mage). Pet, damage, low-risk... Everything all other classes lack.

<< Lv.63 priest now, by the way. Had first raid yesterday and raiding the Upper Spire tomorrow.

*chuckle* Remember my age-old first reply to the topic?

Yon level 8 mage is now a level 70 archmage, with loads of bragging rights, One of the biggest enchant-lists on the alliance side, and being the -worst- PvP player you can dig up from the depest pits of younameit.

Pay Lilariel a visit on the Defias Brotherhood server sometime, will'ya? I'm practically logged on at all times whenever I'm not at work, so it'd be swell to have a chat with ye oldies here ;)

I personally have to say paying X amount each month is a waste of money. You could be using that money to save for retirement, save for college, better house, etc... I guess I am pratical in how my money should be spent.

Well, Munchkin, I guess 10 dollars (or so, I don't play WoW so I don't know the exact amount) a month doesn't usually affect anything. Sure, you could save it, but it would take plenty of years before that money would be of real use.
Not to say that saving money is a waste, but sometimes it really doesn't matter that much.

I'd say that you can compare WoW with any other average hobby. :)

Lets pretend you were a football fan instead, would you say it's a waste to use money on new football-shoes, clothes, etc? What about fishing? Mountain-climbing? Model Railways? You might say that "It's not the same." to which I'd reply "All in the eye of the beholder." To me, WoW is as much as a hobby of mine as fishing is a hobby of mine.

For that matter, I don't even know what I pay each month. :p You'd have to save up quite a while before it'd make even a fragment of an impact on your retirement funds. ;)

I cancelled my subscription about three weeks ago, for me the price isnt bad for what you get but I found it far too time consuming. When I first got it I'd play for 3 hours or so every few days, then I found myself playing for that much everyday. Eventually I was starting to not go out over a weekend to play as I felt I would be letting my playing partners down. So I decided enough was enough and stopped playing, and if I'm honest I don't miss it at all. It may sound strange but when playing WoW the weeks would fly by but now time seems to go much more slowly and I manage to get alot more done. Also when looking back I see how much of a chore it was, like I would set myself a target to reach a certain level and if I didnt get there I'd spend hours grinding. I stopped playing as its just too hard to play in moderation, there are just so many more things you could spend your time (and money) doing.

Started playing this a couple of weeks ago. Got a night elf hunter I'm trying to rush to 40 to get a mount, he's level 33 now. Got a dwarf fighter level 16 too, on Anachronos, and thinking about a Tauren.

Lv.70 here and completed pretty much everything except raids. Got mostly epic gear, two swift mounts and a flying one, plus attunements for everything. Have also fiddle enough with PvP, guilds, and the official forums.Too bad that the raiding is nearly impossible on our server due of the lack of players and the bigger guilds stealing many players only for themselves.

Got kinda tired too, so I quit it until the next expansion comes out. Hopefully it fixes the situation so that healers (aka "priests") aren't so easy to kill, minimum. Gives more time to do other things anyway. For the fun of it, HERE is a pic of one good looking priest. ;)

Some of my experience with WoW.

I started in the beggining of this year from scratch on a random server knowing no one. Played loads for 4 months in which time i got from lvl1 to cleared black temple and sunwell plateau raiding. After wiping in swp (newest raiding instance) for 3 weeks in a row, i finally realised how silly it was. For competitive hardcore raiding, you have to spend 4-6 hours a day, 4-6/7 days a week glued in front of the screen, doing the same thing over and over again. The biggest catch is that the requirements from you as a player are on the level of a 60IQ idiot from a local mental hospital. You spam your spell/ability, depending on your role (healer, dps, tank) you will be using from 1-5 of those. Over and over again for about ~30 hours a week. For what? to FARM gear so you can beat newer content. The grind itself takes absolutely every fun out of the game. As long as you're progressing fast, hopping guilds and content it's fun, you feel you're progressing somewhere. When you get endgame however, everyting is so slugpaced it's mind-numbing. It's fun, killing a boss or trying to figure an encounter out for the first few times.. but after a few repetitions it's just boring. And you'll be getting the same for a few months in a row.
    This is PvE (raiding) aspect.

PvP is more interesting, there's actually some skill beyond button spamming and "there's fire - move out of the fire" of PvE side. Here however, you get to whine over the completely unbalanced and downright idiotic balancing decisions of developers. 2v2 arena is a joke. a certain class combination can go in blindfolded, roll their faces in the keyboard and win. Certainly, there's a LOT dependant on skill, but still.. roll a sl/sl lock and drain-life tank anyone without a problem. 3v3 is better, 5v5 actualy comes close to being balanced. Teamplay required is insane, the combinations and tactics practicaly limitless.
I'm still trying myself in PvP aspect, havent progressed far yet. Being a Moonkin though, it's one of the worst spec's for pvp.

Overall, it's a fun package.. three games rolled in one. First is leveling, questing from 1 to 70 which is fun for some.. nightmare for myself. Second is 70 PvE which is idiot friendly, noob-supported, slacker's dream, but fun at times, if you count progressing and guild raiding social aspect. Third is PvP, which is in my opinion the best part of the game, even as unbalanced as it is.

I have spent three years in the game, quit a few months ago. Since then I have been trying to find any other computer game experience to fill some of the void and I have just failed. WoW is an incredible gaming experience in my opinion, a really really really good game and I do not think we will see a better MMO until Blizzard makes a new one. That said, all of what Gothmog said is true and the reason I quit had more to do with social issues within the guild I was in than any true boredom with the game. They are making it a lot more casual friendly the longer it runs as well but still, if you want to do it all you have spend a whole bunch of time in game. I am still surprised to see Gothmog going all the way in four months from scratch, you must have been seriously dedicated during that time and you must have skipped a whole bunch of stuff.

Yeah, should've taken longer, but being bed-ridden with a broken foot all day makes it easy :)
Even so, i only went through t5 content once, using crafted and badge gear to haul myself to t6. This aspect of the game i do like, there are various ways to improve equipment besides waiting for a random % for your type of item to drop (and you getting it over other guildies). Other than that, i think i did most other things available.

I guess WoW being casual gamer friendly is positive for begginers. No matter when you start with the game, you can catch up in a few months. Especialy true for PvP, since gathering that gear is singularly farming process taking perhaps a month in all and can be begun even before dinging level 70.

Another issue i was just reminded is characters lacking variety. There are 9 classes. Each supposedly has 3 specialisations. Unfortunately the way blizz balances things, on average you'll see 2 specs of a class. Now, as most people go for either PvP OR PvE, most players will consistently play with only one spec. That's 9 different characters you can encounter, differences varying only on gear and skill. Sure, there's folks with different specialisations around, but they're in vast minority and mostly, their advantage lies only in opponents suprise at his spec(pvp) or offering a unique advantage to the raid, but gimping your character's performance otherwise. It's just not optimal, not having the best spec everyone else has.
Admittedly, blizz is improving things in this department, but at such a slow pace you dont even notice it unless playing for years. I sure didnt. It's like there's 2 balancing teams at blizz. One is making patch to patch changes, fiddling with things around and not doing much good, other is making big changes (and very good ones at that) at major waypoints like release of TBC changing feral druids and shadow priests to something useful.

If you have played for four months I quit soon after you started. I went the long way though, started raiding in Molten Core back in the day and it wasn't until three months ago when that same community had fallen a part a bit too much combined with me getting a job and of course people not being able to get out of the f-ing fire that made me quit. We had killed Illidan before Christmas and thus farmed BT for quite a while and had a strong roster for Sunwell when eight core members decided they didn't like it with us anymore and migrated to start a new guild on another server this lead to a few other people deciding deciding to quit me among the last. That still pisses me off something fierce. If I hadn't gotten a job I would probably have weathered that as well, the main reason I played for so long and so much was the community. That I had been part of the same community for so long, through ups and downs, through gruelling wipefeasts and glorious first kills. People came and went but a small core stuck around. Now, I have vacation and do not have much to do and it seems like what is left of my old guild is getting up some steam again wiping on Brutallus, I have dared ventured back on the ventrilo (sitting and chatting on ventrilo while on the computer alone is almost reason enough to get involved in a MMO, it is very entertaining and fun) and it seems like they could sure use the mad dps of my two button spamming warlock. I just don't want to get involved in all the politics again and even if raiding is damn fun you need to play an immense amount to be able to contribute in any worthwhile way.

As for PvP I never enjoyed it much, I get too upset when I lose. I can not handle losing to other humans nor am I too fond of the faster pace of PvP over PvE. What you said about variation is something i have thought quite a bit about as well. I think the simple answer is that Blizzard are, as you pointed out, struggling even to balance the nine classes and their three different specs. They do not want too much variation or too many builds and skill combinations to be eligible. It is hard enough to balance as it is and despite what you said earlier about some classes just going in rolling their heads on the keyboard WoW is the most balanced game I have ever come across. Blizzard have chosen balance over variation, nine classes with roughly one PvP and one PvE spec each except it is so much more if you look at the druid it can fulfil three different roles so they need to balance for PvE balance, PvP balance, PvE feral, PvP feral, PvE resto and PvP resto true some of those specs are better than others but it is still a lot of balancing that needs to be done. What bothered me more when it comes to variation was hte lack of variation in gear, pretty much all warlocks look the same and wear the same gear and the same goes for all classes. They could at least have used different graphics for the PvP and PvE sets.

Wow, been a VERY long time since I posted. I got the Rogue to 70, stopped playing and deleted him.

I've now rerolled as a Tauren Shaman. Awesome fun, level 27 at the moment.

    Why did you delete a 70? :/
There's no good reason I can think of. More 70's add's £££ to your account.
