    hi,
i got to play this game again after some time, and this is very basic question.

i just gained fourth level and i don't know which stats to raise. i have cleric of lathander and druid in my party, both have wisdom 16. i don't know if it's actually worth it to raise wisdom above 16? am i going to level high enough (six men party) so i'll get highest level spells before the end of the game?

also, is it worthy to raise my sorcerer's and bard's charisma above 18?

In 3e Rules, the level of your spellcasting stat (Wisdom for Druids & Clerics for example) is important because it gives you more bonus spell slots, increases the DC of the saves against your spells, AND limits what level spells you can get. A Wisdom of 16 will only allow you to cast level 6 and lower spells. Unless you do some multiclassing, you will DEFINITELY reach the level necessary to cast 7th & 8th level spells, and MAYBE 9th level as well. You should definitely get the Cleric and the Druid up to at minimum 18 in Wisdom, but even higher is better.
Same with the Sorc and Bard. 18 will allow you to cast the highest level spells you're likely to get to, but it's still wise to raise those stats, for the DC purposes.

I think the most compelling reason to raise your spellcasting stat as high as possible is the save DC. Remember, the DC will be exactly the same between a level 1 and a level 30 spellcaster - the ONLY variable that affects the DC is your stat modifier. Unless you want your enemies to constantly save against your spells, you should get it as high as possible. I would have started with 18 WIS for both cleric and druid actually, and spent every bonus stat point on WIS. The same applies for the Sorc and Bard for CHA.

DC stands for Difficulty Class and it is a measurement of how easy (or difficult) it is for enemies to survive against your spells. In short, raise your spellcasting ability scores as high as you can go!

Just a quick question: Regarding bards and sorcerers, do they get extra spells with a higher charisma or is that only for divine spellcasters?

^Yes according to spiffy 3E rules, higher INT rewards wizards with bonus spells, and high CHA gives new daily spell castings for Sorcs and Bards.

Note that for Bards and Sorcs, you do not get the abillity to learn more spells with higher CHA. The number of spells known is set in stone, and nothing can change that. You do get more castings of your known spells per day though, just like high WIS with divine casters.

...which is why Eagle's Splendor is such a useful spell for Bards and Sorcerers...
