Hi all. After playing BG1 sometimes, it started to get boring. So I wanted to do something different this time. (I tried playing evil but I didn't like that.)

So I came with a new idea, playing a Thief only party. This is what I gonna do:

I'll play the game with 4 self-created characters (already created them). All thiefs:

    - One Pure Thief, Elf, male named Haldir, the Shadowstealer.
    - One Fighter/Thief Elf, male, named Glorfindel, the Shadowwarrior.
    - One Cleric/Thief female, Gnome, named Luily Greylock, the Shadowhealer.
    - One Thief/Illusionist, female Gnome, Dori Greylock, the Shadowcaster. (yes they ARE family)

By this way I want to make the game some harder. 4 characters instead of 6, and thiefs, so not too good AC and not for every character the best armor and weapon that is available for that class. For I play with only 4 characters, they are some better then Nobleman's Mojo, they have good stats, but I suppose they need good stats, for they have no great AC, armor, weapons etc.

I will give sometimes a short summary of how the party is acting, but by no ways as detailed as Nobleman does :)

Any comments, suggestions, questions, ideas or parts in the game that will be very difficult? Let me hear!

I think it is a great idea. I planned to play with a rogues-only party, but then in BG2 and continue in ToB. I might advice you to put a halfling in, just for fun and because halflings get more thiefing ability bonusses. I have to make up a good team, but I'll start with my rogues-only team as soon as I finished Tob.

[IMG] Good luck and may the force be with you :) I am already picturing the fantastic four standing in final battles. To boldly go where no thief has gone before

Thanks... Well, I had to choose between Halflings and Elfs. The Cleric/Thief had to be a Gnome, no other Race can play this unique class. I wanted to play a specialist/thief, and an intelligence of 19 was very necessary, for only 1, multiclassed mage isn't much so I need as much spells as possible. So there where only to characters left, the two that will with the most, so they need good strength too. So these are both elfs, however the pure thief could possibly also be a halfling, that would also be funny.

Will I encounter any problems I don't see yet?

When this all gives me much fun, I also will go through TOTSC and BG2 SOA with it.

Still not started... stupid chat-addiction (ah and I had to work)

The pure thief has small sword and bow, like they should. The Fighter/Thief has Long Sword and Long Bow (long bows just are cooler then crossbows :p) The thief/illusionist has missile weapons and dagger. I'm not sure about the cleric/thief anymore... I thought missile weapons and blunt weapons.

    Edit:

I started the game today. As expected, the very beginning of the game isn't very hard. The low AC cause of the good dex all partymembers have prevents me from getting damaged by Gibberlings and Xvarts. De high Dexterity makes it easy to kill the enemies with the many range attack weapons I got.I killed the Ogre with the belts and managed to lead the party the party to the Friendly Arm Inn. Imoen also went with me, she met after Gorions dead. I don't like to have here in the party, she should do the things girls have to do... cleaning the beds etc for Winthrop :) But I also couldn't just leave her alone in the wilderness so I brought her to the Friendly Arm Inn. There I met Khalid and Jaheira. They asked if they could join the Shadowcouncil but I told them I am thankful for the help they offer but I rather won't have others sharing the problems of me and the other Shadowcouncil-members. SO I told them they would do a better job with babysitting, I left Imoen in their hands. Now I am resting from the first adventures and drink a beer.... Soon I will continue.. this Journey isn't over, it just begun..

    Always Yours, - Haldir

You should let them specialize in a thief skill each, say one is good for traps, another lockpicking etc.

Could enhance the teamplay between them and make each one a more important part of the whole ;)

I think its wonderfull only to play with 4 guys Headbanger. Then you can actually have guest stars one in a while. :D

I am actually looking very much forward to this.

Lokken I find you Mighty wise, I would have thought Headbanger would specialize them all in pickpocket if you haven't given him that pearl of advice :p  :spin:

I forgot one detail, all characters are chaotic good.

Nobleman, the target of Lokken was just to post (for his stats) so he succeeded.

Of course (;)) I came with Lokken's Excellent idea. Each member of the Shadowcouncil is specialized in a skill. For all, Hide in shadows is high for everyone.
    - The thief is specialized in Open Locks
    - The fighter/thief is specialized in Pickpocketing
    - The Cleric/Thief is good at detecting traps
    - The Illusionist/Thief can detect illusions very well.

Als have good Hide in Shadow abilities, wich have to increase even more, for when only one fail to hide in shadows, he/she spoils it for the whole party.

Indeed, it is possible to have sometimes some more characters, temporary in the game. I bought Imoen to the Friendly Arm Inn for without Gorion, she sould also not be able to return to Candlekeep, girl or not, she would found out that also for her the gates would be closed. I'm also planning to help Minsc to capture Dynaheir. But it will not happen to many times, for the idea at playing with 4 characters is not only that it is some harder, but also that the 4 characters level up faster then a character in a party of six would do, so the thief skills are a little bit better.

I played half an hour yesterday. Returned Joia's Flamedance ring, went to Beregost and killed Silke and Marek. Go to the thunderhammer smithy now to get some good stuff.. Well, with ranged weapons and this Dexterity, the game isn't hard in the beginning, But I'm sure it will be harder somewhat later in the game.

Tomorrow I don't have to work... so then I will play a lot I hope. Of course I will tell you what happened!

Wow, this is a GREAT idea indeed!!! Now I know how I will play the BG saga next time I decide to do it. I think I've been looking for something like this for a long time.

I also like paladins. I wonder how paladin only party would be like. It would probably be better in BG2, since there are sub-classes and paladins can't multi.

i think this is a great idea and i am pleased that people know how to have real fun with this game!

I used to love the theif until i found out about the Paladin............

Yeah, but playing with paladins might be a bit hard... Maybe a mixed party of Paladins and Clerics might do better, since paladins cant multi to a mage...

Oh my friend you haven't a clue.
I am rather famous around here for doing the impossible and a group of paladins would be a very easy ride indeed. Mages! bah!

I played some more. Beregost wasn't a problem at all. Silke was easy to hit with bows. The Dwarve in the Red Sheaf in was also not very hard to kill. Only the half-orcs just south of Beregost gave some problems. First time I tried to kill both directly, by letting the Thief (with Short Sword +1) and the Fighter (Long Sword) both backstab one. The gave some problems so I reloaded and used bows for it. Also, the Illusionist/Thief was killed by a party of 4 bandits 2 maps south of Beregost. The arrows did hit to easy.

In Nashkel I killed Neira. Minsc joined the party, I will rescue Dynaheir. While playing the game I really think I got more patience, this is unique, for the first time I didn't slap Noober but waited for the XP ;)

I found an Ankheg's Plate but I will sell it as soon as I am back in Beregost. However Glorfindel can use it, he still is more Thief then Fighter and refuses to wear armor in wich he can't backstab. In Nashkel Mines destrict, I killed Greywolf. I was glad my Cleric/Thief had an entangle spell left, else it would be a lost fight. With the +2 sword, my Fighter/Thief is way more dangerous. No I'm heading to the west. Many good items for my Thief-party ar there :)

    Back to the game....
