Salt: would be on par with the Bourne films, were the overarching plot not so ludicrous. Fun, though.

Saw Hithcock's Birds yesterday. I saw thousands and thousands of birds, but no birdpoop, so I think they were all just constipated.

I saw Daybreakers.... uuuugh... Good premise, but after a while, the characters become really muddled and you don't even know what their motivation is anymore. The script doesn't make a whole lot of sense... Could have been a pretty good film in competent hands.

Agreed on Daybreakers. Pretty awesome start with loads of wonderful possibilities to explore. They didn't per say chose the wrong one, but they didn't make that good a job at following it.

    @Loreseeker
If you liked Black Lightning, you should check out Night Watch. I didn't watch Lightning, but from what i gather it's more of similar. Russian production makes such a refreshing change from Hollywood!

Trying to think of an interesting film i've recently watched... I guess "How to train your dragon" stands out. I generally don't watch mainstream broadest public oriented animated films, but dragons and vikings? sounded too good and gave it a try.
    Surprisingly it was really good!

Night Watch... iirc, have a sequel or prequel called Day Watch. I've seen one of them but can't really remember which one. I think the premise was interesting but also remembered I find it just a so-so movie.

Saw My Sister's Keeper last night. It's about a family with one of the kid having leukemia. I find it a really nice and touching film. Very good acting, good script, and nice angles for each character's little backgrounds.

[IMG] 'Black Blooded Brides of Satan'... yeah... by the normal standards, it would be as bad as it sounds. However: death metal, BDSM, snuff movies and Finnland combined - what is not to like? :D The English subtitles stopped working after half an hour or so, and not understanding the dialogues was a blessing in that case. One of the female protagonists was Chaotic Evil at it's best; I repeat, what is not to like? This is a case of So Bad It's Good, I guess. :D

Natural Born Killers. It blew my mind away back in the days. I will never forget the scene when the guy riding his bicycle gets 12-gaged. That was just pure awesomeness with an extra layer of awesome topped with even more awesome and free violence. Free violence FTW!

Oh Gods, yes. I was nine or ten when the VHS was released. It was a great, great detox after all this Bambi and similar bull****. I was slightly disappointed by the fact that not all 'movies for adults' are as good as this one, though. It was sort of like drinking coffee for the very first time.

I saw The Road, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel and starring Viggo Mortensen. Very good, if quite bleak both visually and in tone.

Watched Tron to ramp up for the sequel. It was fun, made me think back to when I was a little tyke and thought that Tron was the pinnacle of SFX.

Just watched Crowe's Robin Hood. I liked it, but can totally understand why it wasn't super popular. Plus I respect Cate Blanchett's acting a whole lot but she doesn't float my boat in terms of sexiness. At all. Not even a little bit.

Last night we watched "The Final Destination". I'm guessing it would have been better to see it in 3D in the theater. Teen Snook thought it was great, I gave it an O.K., Mrs. Snook left the room.

I saw Watchmen after reading the comic a few weeks ago. The comic blew my mind, the film did not. Very disappointing on many levels and the acting was very poor generally. Few of the characters were as appealing as in the book, though the Comedian was good. Doctor Manhattan came across as a dweeb rather than an omnipotent being.

Watched 'Requiem for a Dream' yesterday.

Yeah, I know it got great reviews and I am no expert on movies, however - I thought it was overly dramatic to the point of being unintentionally funny. Reminded me of the 'meth-not even once' ads, really. Besides, the creator's intentions of inducing a strong emotive response were absolutely clear from the start, so clear that it trivialized the already quite trivial message and made the film seem vulgar (I have absolutely no problem with explicit scenes, I have a problem with their pretentiousness). No idea whether the protagonists were supposed to be archetypes rather than real and believable characters, but I do not like the way it turned out, intentional or not.

One thing I liked? The way this picture shows actions and their consequences.
If you take benzedrine (at least I suppose that was in the pills Sarah was religiously taking), you are going to descend into insanity; if you get addicted to drugs, you will do anything to get them; if you inject some strange substants IV using an unclean needle, you will loose an arm
. Certainly no naive happy endings here. Alas, we get a naive unhappy ending. I think I would rather watch a slasher. :D

Watched People Under the Stairs with the wife for a halloween vibe. Laughed our way through it, glad my wife liked it though. She is slowly getting into horror so I stick to the more funny easy going ones like Fright Night, Dog Soldiers and American Werewolf in London. Then its on to something more scary hopefully.

Great choices, I would include John Carpenter's The Thing and Robert Rodriquez's From Dusk 'Til Dawn.
