Emphasis mine. 'Acting' in some way, of course, implies that it's not a genuine feeling or stance, which is obviously true in the case of people attempting to affect a certain x-y-z mindset. Hence we can conclude that hipsters (or anyone else who 'acts' cynical) are not for real.

I often wonder how people who willfully choose outwardly negative mindsets would react if they instead had to adopt them involuntarily. You know - the real way. It probably wouldn't be pretty, and the 'sexy' would go down the toilet real quick. :heh:

Of course, I don't believe for a second this cynicism is genuine, it's just oddly enough "cool" in today's messed up world. Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. I meant to say that the cynicism is part of the hipster's subculture but not necessarily part of the individuals persons' psyche. It's just "cool" to be angsty and cynical, so many hipster just act like it.

Why did the hipster burn his mouth on his coffee?

He drank it before it was cool

Wow, I've recently borrowed the RoboCop trilogy on blu-ray from a friend, just started watching the first one, you know a movie is old when apartheid is still a thing jeez. Also, did the 80s fashion sense sucked or what ?

Yes, I paused the movie and went online solely to make this stupid comment. you're welcome

I had to go out of the office for a bit. On my way back, I saw a drink machine off to the side, and just for an instant my reaction was that I should go and check it to see if it had any bottle caps or Nuka Cola.

I think I've been playing a bit too much Fallout 3...

I was thinking the same thing, 'Lanni. And not only sitcoms. Commercials as well.
There's a lady here who's always making fun of how lazy men are and never can do anything right. So when she uploaded a picture of an insect (she made it sound like it was an infernal bat the size of a vulture, but it was just a moth) and asked if someone could liberate her from this creature of terror because else she couldn't get anything done, it was just too easy to point out her own flaws.

That's nice Flix. :) Would you like a Cask Strength 1982 Caol Ila with that?

I seriously wonder if sometimes women don't just play the "helpless" roll just to get male attention. I mean REALLY what is a tiny moth/spider/mouse going to do to a freakin human a zillion times it's size?

Well ok, you sort of have a point. Where I live there are no poisonous spiders, snakes, or anything with venom. I supposed you have to worry about rabies if you get bitten by a sick animal but there is so reason to be scared of any of the critters otherwise. Not that I would try and pet a bear or a moose or anything - people that dress in furry costumes freak me out.

My brother is a clown in the Cirque De Soleil, but he's a very sweet one. Hopefully you wouldn't be freaked out by him.

ION Since my kids are gone for a few days and I didn't have to work today I went out to a blues bar by myself. I actually had a pretty good time but I had to avoid some men who were hitting on me. I definitely didn't leave any drinks lying around.
