Problems with sound packs

I haven't posted in a while... and when I'm back I want something. How typical.

My problem is this: After more than two years of abstinence I finally gave in and re-installed BG2. Yeah - shame on me. Now I wanted some sound packs to spice up my game, and what can possibly be more appealing than my favorite Torment characters. I downloaded the voices of both Dak'kon and Vhailor in the form of surprisingly small wav files, but when I tried to play them in order to refresh my memory of Dak'kon's voice I got a nasty "invalid file type" error. Same with Vhailor's. Any chances that the files uploaded are corrupted? Has the Almighty sorcerer made a poo-poo? I am undoubtedly certain the problem is not on my side as my wav decoder has no problems playing any other wavs. But then again I was also undoubtedly certain I was Napoleon, but the men in white proved me wrong.

On a sidenote, how many of the oldtimers are still here? Tal has no chance of leaving, I persume, but what of other forum personalities? Is Extremist still his humorously cranky self? And is Slappy still as bald as Morte on a bad hair day?

    I expect lightning-fast responses,
    -Vicsun

Well, Extremist was gone a while and we all were worried of him, but it turned out okay, even though I haven't seen him in a while. Look in a topic lower down this forum.

Most of the old-timers have left, but I am still here, even though you may not remember me, I was a n00b when you were a regular.

Slappy I see every now and then, but Blackthorne have become an ir-regular. Well, most others you may or may not recognize.

The files are in the original WAVC game sound format, which is slightly different than regular wav, so you won't be able to play them directly. They will work just fine in the game, however.

    P.S.

Signatures are STILL not allowed here.

Sorry about the rule-breakage, this wasn't meant to be a signature it was meant to be more of a... ending. Kinda like a clonclusion, but not quite if you know what I mean.

Anyways, thanks a bunch for the lightning fast response. Now all I need is someone to teach poor technologically dumb me how to install said voices. Anyone?

Just copy them to the soundset directory in the game's install directory, then pick them at the character customisation screen in the game.

hmm... and supposing I've already started the game with a different character sound pack? Any way I can incorporate dak'kon's sounds then?

Certainly, you change the soundset at any time.
