I guess my IT background means that I have those numbers stuck in my head. That, and that I started hacking save game files when I was ten, and did my first mod to a game called Strike Fleet when I was 11: Putting photon torpedoes on an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate in the first mission just to see what I could accomplish messing with the parameters on a copy of the game disk with Copy II+'s sector editor.
Later I turned the LAMPS ASW helicopters into attack helicopters armed with [sea]Sparrow air-to-air missiles, the weakest cannons I could make on the game that could still probably rival the A-10's in effectiveness (I did make them as weak as possible) if you got in range, and able to launch their torpedoes against ships instead of just subs.
    All in good fun.

True, we should probably start a new thread if we want to continue to discuss adding familiars to non-mage characters.

A new topic might be helpful for people who want a Familiar but don't want a Protagonist who is a Mage...

Well, my boss rolled me twice in one day. She's the assistant manager, and our manager is in the hospital on medical leave. She was collecting money to send our manager some flowers and a get-well card and rolled me for cash.
Then, a couple hours later she had to roll my project to next week so I could take over somebody else's project who had a family emergency and it was more important to get done quickly than my own.
So she rolled me twice in one day.

That's the way for the overflow to work on consumables like spells and potions. I've seen it been done in the BG1 speedrun (spamming dimension door all day, every day), though I've not really tried to get it to work myself. With gems it's much easier, because you can just go to inventory (while paused), select a potion to drink and swap the slot with a potion for any gem and exit the inventory to 'use' the gem. Then do it again to go below zero.

No-one would even think to do it if it only went up to 32767, though, because then you'd have to go down to -32768 first to get it to overflow ;)

To remain mildly on topic, as our kindly Beren alludes to, my highest stat roll is nothing special, just 96, which was for a Blade, if I remember correctly. Nowadays I just SK 92-94 points, it's much quicker. Though I understand that in EE the rolls are much higher on average.

I don't think that the rolls in the enhanced edition are higher per sé - i think it's just become easier to identify those high rolls because they added in a field that shows you the total roll amount.
In the original games, you had to add up all the values manually to see how high you rolled.

So i just got my best roll ever earlier today, a total of 106 points.
I did use the .AHK script to do my rolling for me, but since that simply automates the process, this does show you can get this score and presumably a perfect 108 as well by rolling in-game normally - though i don't know how infinitesimally small the chances of rolling it are.

The character i rolled this on is a gnome thief/illusionist by the way.

Edit : this is the character after redistributing the stat points.
I decided to max everything and keep charisma as a 'dump stat' though it's still at 16(!)
I chose to learn the 'Friends' spell at character creation for those few occasions where i'd need a higher charisma score.

That ties with the best I got in BG1 original, only it looked like two 17's, three 18's, and an 18/13 when rolling up a paladin.
I was kinda upset about the /13, but then I remembered the manual of gainful exercise would fix it.

Yeah, though with a roll this high, the strength % is kind of an added bonus anyway, i'd still take 106 points with only an 18/01 over 96 points with an 18/99.
And like you said, the manual fixes the problem entirely, which will be nice for my character as well since my class doesn't allow for strength% in the first place. If i remember correctly you can't get the tome of strength until chapter 5 once you return to candlekeep though?

In the long run, i couldn't have rolled this on a better character - i benefit from all the stats, 18 con is nice to have because i get another +1 to my 'shorty saves' even though i don't reap the full benefit from it as far as HP goes.
not being able to put more then 17 in wisdom doesn't matter either, since BG1 has 3 wisdom tomes available, so i will still end up with a 20 total in it.
And like i said in my earlier post, i learned the friends spell to offset the 16 in charisma, even though there's only a handful of places where i can remember having 18 charisma actually mattering (like getting the dagger+1 from fuller in the prologue for example.)

The 18 charisma also gets low lower prices when you purchase items and IIRC pays you more for things your selling.

I could always use the Friends spell before i talk to the shopkeeper though.
Also, good charisma or not, it doesn't take a lot of time in either game before you're practically swimming in gold, with nothing to spend it on because you're already decked out in the best magical items.

Doesn´t the script count how often it rerolled to get to 106? And why did it stop at 106 when it´s rolling automatically? Do you set a minimum wanted value before running it?

Wasn´t the innkeeper of the Friendly Arm who lost his ring a T/I?
In my current playthrough (the first with BG EE) I´m using a gnomish Fighter/Illusionist for a difference to the human Conjurer I used in the original BG year ago.

Don´t forget the cloak that gives +2 CHA. Any thief worth his salt should know where that can be obtained.
