I'm currently playing the mod, Eye of the Beholder, and am having horrible troubles with my character being frightened (the black and gold bubbles around the head), every time she sees a mummy. Aside from the incapacitation of my character, it also takes almost 5 minutes for this to wear off, leaving me spending the bulk of my time sitting in front of my screen waiting. It's getting very annoying. I tried potions of clarity, but doesn't seem to help. I also do not have a mage in my party, so once this happens, there's nothing I can do. Is there any way around this?

Paladins are immune to fear at second level, and the Lesser Belt of Guiding Light as well as the Dragon slippers, among other items, provide immunity to fear. If you have a high will save, you should be able to resist fear effects routinely. What is your character class? I'm assuming you are either a rogue or some fighter type. If so, then...
Barbarians can rage to increase their Will Saves
Paladins, as I said before, are immune to fear.
Rangers can snipe at enemies from long-range, moving rapidly out of the range of auras.
Rogues can also snipe enemies from afar.
Amulets of Will, Scarabs of Protection, and the Iron Will feat will all increase your chances of saving vs. fear.

My Rogue / Ranger / Shadowdancer always has this problem. It's a major pain and about the only time Linu come in useful to save the day.

In addition to the items Bovine Knight mentioned, Daelan's Amulet from the OC both provides immunity to fear and a strength boost.

Ah! I forgot about the dragon slippers (of which I have a pair) -- and I also stumbled upon a trader who conveniently is selling the Ring of Fear. So problem solved. Thanks everyone!

In the OC, there is also the Greater Belt of Guiding Light which provides immunity to Fear and Death Magic, as well as a useful disco glow function to light up those dingy corridors.

1st level spell, protection from alignment (evil) makes you immune to "mind effects" including fear.

Other items include the Golden Circlet in the O.C., the Cowel of Warding in HOTU and the Broewende Family Armor in the O.C. Nice thing about these items is that they can't be dispelled. These three protect against all mind effects, not just fear.
