[IMG] Since we're on the topic of dragons:

What is the best way to kill a dragon?

What spells will work on a dragon?

What kind of cool items can I get from killing a dragon?

You've got to be kidding me.

There are, if you check the boards, roughly 614,923,311.2 ways to kill a dragon.

They all have cool stuff, Firkraag especially if you have a paladin. Shadow Dragon armor (leather, so good for thieves...my avenger is wearing it now), red dragon scale is (other than drow full plate +5) the best armor in SoA, gems, gold, etc.

[IMG] "What is the best way to kill a dragon?": Let Yoshimo set about 1.000.000 traps around the sleeping dragon, then you just wake it up :D

"What spells will work on a dragon?": lower resistance :D

"What kind of cool items can I get from killing a dragon?": If scales are cool, then you get cool scales from them, which can be forged into mutch cooler scale armours; besides they sometimes drop some cheap magical weapons like Carsomyr +5.

Plan I: summon lots of monsters. They get slaughtered while you pick on the the dragon with ranged weapons.

Plan II: This is another strategy for a low-level party; use lots of Wands of Lightning, Lightning spells.... Dragons are weak against it.

Plan III: For high-level parties, ends the fight in 5 minutes; have a mage cast Greater Malison, then maybe a Lower Resistance or two, and finally Finger of Death. Dead dragon.

Do not use the "fake talk" strategy. It takes all the enjoyment out of the fight!!!

magic missle, magic missle, magic missle. The ultimate dragon slayer. Oh wait, gotta use lower resistance first, but hey, you don't have to bother with greater malison if you use magic missles.

Or, you could just hack it to pieces like I do...with some help from a couple of elementals or skeleton warriors.

anybody ever summon a pit fiend and see how long he will last? could be a good tank to create a diversion for a mage.

  9. Have two mages cast spells on it while your fighters take turns kicking it's ass. One get's badly injured, you just take him away from the action till he is fine again, then send him back in.

Have one of your mages cast lower resistance (in my opinion one of the best spells in the game) and pretty much just hammer away at him.

Also it is pretty funny to try using finger of death on the dragon, nothing quite as rewarding as when a dragon goes down before you have even hit him with a weapon.

Strangely enough i used finger of dead and nothing happend ... i guess you, must first use lower resistence? Whats handy is letting the dragon chase someone while the others block the way! Hehe the dragon is stil trying to chase the one partymember down while beeing blocked and beaten from all sides! Nasty tactic!

Summons? Summons dont work for me, a Finger of Death immediately kills almost all of my summons. That totally sux! I just use that sword... forgot lowers magic resitance by 15% each hit and +2 Ac to opponent. can't recall the name...
