Been playing an 8th edition warhammer campaign round a friends, I'm using my dark elves and have written a list for fun. Not very effective, but there you are.

I've been trying out both Witch Elves and Executioners, only small units so far, it's a 1,500 game at the moment so only just added a couple of five man squads to see what they do when they get into battle.

They're actually impressive even when in tiny units.

A unit of five witch elves with full command, get into combat and have SIXTEEN attacks, at initiative six, with hatred and poison. They have no armour though so a five man squad relies on getting in the flank and pretty much hitting as long as possible without caring about survival. They are frenzied so with my luck with leadership rolls they amble happily into the thing that kills them the easiest.

Executioners have heavy armour, are higher strength than most elves - strength 4 basic when most else is 3 and have great weapons which give +2 strength, they have killing blow and hatred still with higher weapon skill. Unfortunately having great weapons mean that they always strike last. I keep them alongside a unit of spearmen 20 strong so they can add some extra pain in a flank or alongside.

Am looking forward to using bigger units of them both, everyone says that Black Guard are better than executioners - they have halberds which give +1 strength but they don't always strike last. Though personally I don't like the Black Guard that much and would only use them in armies themed around Malekith as they are his personal guard.
