Hellou! Hope you haven't forgotten about me

Anyway, two months ago I got my first digital camera, an Olympus x-715 5.0 Megapixel, and photographing has since then become sort of an hobby of mine. The camera isn't much to brag about but it's very user-friendly and good for beginners. I've been thinking about getting a Canon 350D or 400D later on.

Naturepictures are what I enjoy shooting most and I often spend several hours walking around in the woods here. It's not only fun but very relaxing too.

So do anyone else here share my hobby? And I also wonder if anyone know of any good photo communities on the net?

 

I do. I have a pretty nice digital camera and I take a lot of photographs. I know I have a good eye for it. I like to use my own images in any artwork I create (or digital artwork) so with a digital camera I can take as many as I want.

You seem to have a good eye as well Elven. I really enjoyed the perspective in a lot of your photos. Have fun

As far as photography communities I don't know any specifically but there must be tons out there. Just google it.

 

I have had a lot of experience with cameras, though it is mainly video. Its an expensive hobby but can be very rewarding.

As for your question, yes, I enjoy photography. I recently bought an Olympus E-500 DSLR camera, and have since taken well over 7000 pictures.

I enjoy landscape photography, but I've found that I enjoy nude art photography a lot more. Sure, you get to see very attractive women nude, but once they open up and relax, it's really fun to see them pose and act normal the way God made them. Not including my wife, I've photographed 5 women so far, and they all have come back for at least one or more shoots.
It's not porn, the pictures aren't for sale, and you'll never see any of my work on the internet as everything I've done so far is just for experience for me and my models.

My favorite set was actually a 2 part session. My wife has a friend that was pregnant not too long ago, and she came to me with a cool idea. She wanted a set done of her while she was 8 months pregnant, and another set done once the baby was a few months old. I'm still Photoshoping some of the 2nd set, but so far, they look really cool. My wife likes the 2 sets so much, she want me to the same thing if/when she gets pregnant.

Once I get some better studio equipment and some space for an actual studio, there's a possibility that I might charge for my work. But considering I'm still considered an advanced amateur...I probably won't charge anytime soon.

As for cameras and equipment go...I'd stay away from the Cannon brand if I were you. I've tested a Rebel XT out, and I didn't like it at all. My Olympus E-500 suits me, and is very easy to use IMO. If you want something more advanced, spend your money on a Nikon...since that's pretty much all the real pros use.

Oh, and if you like photographing nature, invest in a good macro lens. Macro photography is amazing if you can find a small insect that's willing to pose for you. I love seeing things in a new light. Take this Ladybug for example. Cool stuff.

 

Bull****. Just because you had a bad experience with them doesn't mean it's crap. I would almost bet the differences in the pictures made with comparable Canons and Nikons are neglectable (if visible at all). And there are plenty of pros out there with Canons (I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 50/50).

Should anyone have the choice between Canon and Nikon, just look at which one lays best in your hand (things like reachability of all the controls). You'll be happy with either of them, but realize you'll probably be stuck with that brand for a long time, since you might not want to buy new lenses and accessories when you buy a new camera.

Elvenblade, the 350D and 400D are both good camera's and very suitable as a first DSLR, but if you get to choose between them, I would go for the 400D if I were you. It may be a little more expensive, but it has more (and better placed) auto-focus points (which is good when you're crap at manual focusing, like me), and the fact it can clean its own sensor comes in handy. And it also has more megapixels, which seems to be a turn on for many people.

I had a look at your gallery, but my Finnish(?) is not so good, what does 'Konst a Sant' mean?

 

Of course I enjoy photography, I'll get a College Degree in Photography next year actually.

As for cameras, for a very wide array of photos I suggest you something that has a manual apperture, shutter speed, and a wide angle lens. Also for a better picture quality I'd suggest something that encode in TIFF or even better, RAW. JPEG is okay I guess but the quality really suffer. I've used a Canon Powershot G3 for some time, and it's a pretty good machine, though it's not on the market anymore to make place to the newer Powershot G series.

 

Nice images. I'm no photographer, but I have a brother-in-law who makes a part-time living at it - my sister was cross with him this tax season because he made too much money and they had to fork out extra taxes.

And I have a local friend who is an avid, published photographer, mostly nature; your shots compare favorably to his.
