Maybe compromise a fighter for another sorcerer and you'd still be fairly well set.

Can basicly do anything you want.. id just say dont use all one class. Its boring and can be very non-effective.

D&D was built around the concept of team work, hence the different classes. To be successful you need 1 fighter, 1 healer, 1 thief, and 1 spellcaster. Where the real fun comes in is figuring out which exact class will fill the above party roles, i.e. fighter, paladin, ranger, monk, or barb for fighter slot, cleric or druid for slot 2 etc... The possiblity of having 6 characters allows for great experimention. Try different things and find out what works for you.

I find that so called fact to be highly overrated... For example, i think one could manage to beat the game with a band of thieves.. You'd just have to pay special attention to the items you with to use.

In my opinion, thiefs are useless...
The lockpicking is dealt with by my sorcerers and they're "knock" spells...
The thieving is pretty much useless. (except for the "Lucky Knucky" you can steal in Targos.)
My monk deals with hide related issues...
+ the rouge isnt a very good fighter, and I think hes backstabbing abbility is highly overrated...

Im not saying thieves are all powerful characters, just merely stating there is no perfect party template and using the theif as an example :D

    Here's me party:

    Aasimar-paladin of helm(LV X)/fighter(LV 4)
    Gold Dwarf-fighter
    human-rogue(LV X)/fighter(LV 4)/ranger(LV 1)
    human-wizard(LV X)/bard(LV 11)

Actually, I'm not sure if there is anything bad about my party so, please comment about my party.
anyway, if any of you are using a bard, do you make a pure bard or mixed class one? Can give me a few ideas?

There's no real perfect party...but a well-balanced party would consist of a tank, a mage, a rogue and a cleric. It's a matter of personal preference, like I almost always use a sorcerer.

    To Skywind

Your party looks nice - with one exception (as I see it).

You have one pure wizard and MC wizard/bard. Wizard is INT based and bard is CHA based. Sorcerer is CHA based. You have no sorcerer.

    (For me) =>

You should make sorcerer/bard instead wizard/bard.

I agree, that wizard/bard could be a nice character, because INT helps everyone :) (but CHA is near to no use for wizard :( ). But I would recommend such combo only to an more than average skilled player.

    I see.

I had the wizard/bard for communication, search, disarm traps skills and I max out the INT and CHA. I didn't want to burden my rogue/ranger/fighter with non-battle skills and wanted her to learn only the hide, walk silently and alchemy.

    Thanks for your infomations.

i'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet, ... there is an outstanding faq available on sorcerers how to create the perfect powerplay party. i got many good ideas for my party there, and also i changed some stuff the party i use now just leaves blood soacked battlefields behind whithout taking serious damage. if this were unreal i'd taunt "too easy" all the time.
3 fightertypes or clerics, 1 wiz and 2 sorcerers (no rogue, the pure wizard gets enough skill points for rogue stuff)

btw i really like the idea of a 6 drow sorcerer party :), but i would use only five to have room for a pleasure slave.

    [IMG] Here's a party I like.

    Aaasimar Sorcerer
    Str 6, Dex 10, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 14, Cha 20

    Tiefling Rogue-2/Wizard
    Str 9, Dex 20, Con 18, Int 20, Wis 10, Cha 1

    Human Cleric (of Lathander)
    Str 18, Dex 13, Con 18, Int 4, Wis 18, Cha 4

    Halforc Fighter-4/Barbarian
    Str 20, Dex 16, Con 18, Int 1, Wis 18, Cha 1

If you want more characters you can add the following either at start or later on:
    Dwarf Cleric (of Tempus)
    Str 18, Dex 16, Con 20, Int 3, Wis 18, Cha 1

    Aasimar Paladin-1/Sorcerer
    Str 10, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 4, Wis 10, Cha 20

Aye, some shameless min/maxing there, but it's all for the greater good.

Edited 6 April: Forgot to mention that this party is specialized for Heart of Fury mode, where spellcasting dominates, but obviously it's great in regular mode as well.
