    1. I select Annah's image icon.

    2. I then right-click on her in the action screen & select her Stealth Special Ability.

    3. Then I click on the Abishai.

    4. She comes OUT OF Stealth mode & attacks.

    What am I doing wrong?

The controlled characters come out of stealth when an attack is selected, move close to the one you wish to attack first while in stealth, and behind them for a back attack, then select them for attack. Targets that move are difficult to target for the extra attack damage, but hard to get Annah and TNO to kill the Moridor's box demon without using that style attack.

You're doing nothing wrong. You can't stay in stealth mode (or invisibility) while attacking. You can move up to an enemy, backstab them for bonus damage, and then pull away and stealth again, or simply open from stealth and then fight normally from there.

    Ah! Thanks, ralebeau & Keneth.

You know, that actually occurred to me, but my mind was so stuck in a different gaming frame of mind that I rejected that possibility. My excuse is mainly that, even though I’ve been enjoying computer games for years, I haven’t had very much variety in my computer gaming experience with role-playing games (RPGs).

Most of those years of experience have been with 4 RPGs: (1) Tomb Raider 1; (2) Diablo 1 & 2, both offline & online; and (3) the original Neverwinter Nights (NWN), both offline & online. I spent years just playing the Diablos & NWN, about 4 years with NWN alone. NWN was my last main RPG. I stuck with it for so long for 3 reasons:

    (1) I couldn’t afford a newer computer, so I was stuck with games made for older computers.

    (2) I was further restricted with playing online, because there has been no DSL or cable at my remote location (for the past 30+ years), & I could only afford a landline Internet connection. Talk about a snail’s pace!

    (3) I was still enjoying the older games, so I didn’t need newer hardware or games.

Eventually, I had to give up playing NWN online. As hardware improved, the more interesting online NWN mods began to add resource-heavy updates, to the point that it would take HOURS to download them with my slow Internet connection. And then my frame rate while playing online was so slow that I often got killed while my screen was trying to catch up with what was really happening. So I started downloading (slowly) offline mods, & played those offline until I ran out of interesting ones.

I ran out of those several years ago and couldn’t decide on any alternative RPG that my old computer could handle (RPGs being my favorite kind of game). Meanwhile, I loved using the Internet for various things, like research & catching up on the news. But as time went by, even most web sites became so resource heavy that I had major time delays just loading main pages with my slow landline connection.

So eventually, I was more or less forced to buy a new computer & get the cheapest satellite dish package. It wasn’t until then that I discovered Torment on sale. So I bought it and tried it. And am enjoying it.

The catch is that I’ve still been in a NWN mindset. NWN had not only a Stealth mode, but also a move called “Backstab”. So I actually started this thread hoping someone would tell me how & when I could get the “Backstab” move for Annah. Duh.

So you see, all this “rambling” has had a connecting purpose to my original question. There’s a good chance that I’m boring most or all of you, but, sorry, I can’t help myself. My mind works analytically & tends to get transformed into typed words similarly. You might look at it as a view into the complexity behind a simple statement, or...is anyone into a semi-autobiography of a gamer? :D

Anyway, your help is appreciated for when I start my next Torment character, but it’s too late for my current one. I’ve been playing Torment constantly since I started this thread, & this hasn’t been my only problem with Annah. You can read some details about it at this thread:

    https://sorcerers.net/community/threads/screen-freezes-at-annahs-first-level-up.85680/

I removed her from my party before entering the 2nd half of The Alley of Lingering Sighs. The clincher in making that decision was that her level-up screen was freezing at the “Accept” button. No one has offered a resolution for that problem, I suspect because there isn’t any, outside of reinstalling Torment, which I don’t want to do yet, as far as I am in my current game (I’ve completed several quests in the Lower Ward, including having the Catacombs map & starting Godsmen quests).

So…the lesson learned? Start Torment with an open mind. Because it ain’t your average classic RPG game…in more ways than one!
