One of my characters is inflicted with the Hezrou Stench. It comes back and restarts every time I move to a new map. I've had Jaroo cure it several times but it restarts as soon as I leave his house. Any ideas? I tried Greater Dispel and Cure Disease and Remove Curse. It also comes back and restarts it's 100 turn timer every time I save the game.

Try Neutralize Poison... and, quite different from the description in PHB or MM, Delay Poison is useless in ToEE...

Ah ha, that got it, thanks. :) There was a persistent "spell object" in his inventory and I couldn't make it go away until I cast the Neutralize Poison. And it appears this did work, passed through some transits without a reappearance. Now I have to figure out how to take out the Balor at the Fire Temple. I am lucky if my main fighter can manage to withstand the fear thanks perhaps to Protection from Evil. Going to have to memorize a few of those to let Elmo get in too perhaps. I think I need to wait out Scather's appearance too.

That Balor guy is quite easy... considering he doesn't possess ALL the special abilities listed in MM.

    Here are some tips:

    A.) Defences against Balor

    1. Fear Aura <----> Protection from Evil **
    2. Dominate Monster <----> Protection from Evil **
    3. Summon Tanar'ri <----> Protection from Evil ** and Neutralize Poison, since he might summon Hezrou(s) or Quasits
    4. Slay Living <----> Death Ward
    5. Flaming Body <----> Resist Energy / Protection From Energy
    6. Death Throes <----> Resist Energy / Protection From Energy
    7. Greater Dispel Magic <----> double or triple your spell preparations

    B.) Offences against Balor

    1. Greater Invisibility
Since this Balor guy does not possess True Seeing, the Greater Invisibility spell not only can negate his insane dex bonus to AC( his dex score is 25! O_O) but also grants +2 bonus to your attacks. Besides, an invisible character does not provoke AoO while moving through the Threatened Squares. ( BTW, in ToEE, a moving character under the protection of Sanctuary spell does not provoke AoO either.)

    2. Stinking Cloud
Technically, Tanar'ri should be immune to poison, but I heard some players report Stinking Cloud can affect Balor... must be some kind of bug. I haven't tested it yet, but I guess you can try your luck...

    -------
** Note: there are some... issues about Protection from Evil in ToEE

1.) Protection from Evil can suppress the dominate effect, but, sadly, not the charm effect...
For example: Elmo is dominated by Balor, a successful casting PfE on him can bring Elmo back... but if he is charmed by, say a Lamia, casting PfE on him has NO effect.( Although the spell can protect him from being charmed in the first place... -_- )

2.) Protection from Evil only can PARTIALLY protect your character from being attacked by summoned creatures ---- it only blocks the physical damages but not the special attacks ( for example: the Poison Attack from Quasit!), so user beware!

3.) Since Protection from Evil renders the recipient immune to ALL mind-affecting spells in ToEE, it is always wise to cast morale-related buffs (Bless, Heroisim, etc) before casing PfE on your characters.

Thanks for the advice. One of my PCs is a monk4/cleric7, even tho she had Circle of Protection from Evil she was still affected by the fear, but Remove Fear suppressed if for her but not for Elmo who had no Protection up. I went at the Balor twice and both times the only one able to resist the fear was my Ranger with the normal Protection from Evil on him. My monk/cleric has an ungodly Will save but even she failed the save on the second attempt despite having the Circle up before going in. I don't have anybody with Stinking Cloud so that won't work. And only my main sorc has enough Spell Penetration to sometimes get a spell through. I had her pour her Magic Missiles and Scorching Rays on him - you'd think a demon would be virtually immune to fire but it seems not so. Oddity with temple is that spells that make multiple attacks on the target get to try to beat the SR with each attack.

I was trying to see if I could milk random road encounters for enough XP to reach L12 (I am just a bit over L11 now) but it seems I'm getting no XP even from Groaning Spirits and trios of Hill Giants.

My bad, it suddenly strikes me that you might install the Temple Plus. If so... well, some of the tips may not work, since my experience is only based on Co8 Modpack and there are some new changes in Temple+ :(( Guess I need some time to catch up :bad:)...... Anyway, I wish you the best of luck:)

I actually only have the Co8 mod installed so your advice is solid as far as I know. ;)
