Steam is also offering Jagged Alliance 1. If you liked the original X-com games, or even the remake, or the Front Mission games, or Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, or the turn-based Battletech game released in 2018, you'll probably like Jagged Alliance.
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/283270/Jagged_Alliance_1_Gold_Edition/?snr=1_5_1100__1100
Experience a true classic! This Gold edition includes the original Jagged Alliance plus the add-on Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. Take a trip into retro land and learn why this is considered to be one the best turn-based games of all times.
I haven't played this version yet, but I do have a CD I got at a library "book sale" about ~10 years ago of the original MS-DOS version that runs under DOSBox. It doesn't have the expansion.
I liked it, but if you didn't like the X-Com Collector's Edition, or X-com Apocalypse, or Front Mission you probably won't like this. Rainbow Six is also pretty similar.

This week on Epic: "The Escapists"
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/the-escapists
The graphics on the preview page look like an SNES game or an RPGMaker game.
Haven't tried it, my HD is full. It's free, so grabbing now to play later.

This week on epic, "Europa Universalis IV". Seems something in the genre of Civilization or Crusader Kings.

    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/europa-universalis-iv
Also several DLC are offered for free, some just for this week. I suggest you sort by price, low-to-high to spot them easier.

This week on Epic, is not a game, but something that many of you could find extremely useful.
    It is "PC Building simulator".
It has licensed real-world components that allow you to build and simulate testing PC's from scratch. It can teach you how to build your own PC, and help give you benchmarks for various component combinations. A valuable tool for learning to build your own PC so you can "try before you buy" so to speak.

I've seen an earlier incarnation of this that was a pure simulator for techs to try various combos that was actually used by a business for testing build ideas for customers, but this has more game components.

    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/pc-building-simulator

Note that at the time I am posting this, the program is still downloading, and it is quite possible that I'm just thinking of another product that has a similar name, or was just nicknamed "PC building simulator", so i can't say for sure until I get it installed.

Anyways, if it's what I think it is, and you are thinking of building your own PC, grab it while you can. Especially if it includes updates every year, but that looks like those might be DLC's you pay for.

This week on epic, a survival horror game called "Among the Sleep"
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/among-the-sleep-enhanced-edition

Somebody is posting on Spacebattles that the first 6 books of their favorite book series is being offered for free on Amazon Kindle, and the last 4 for $20.
If you don't have a Kindle, you can use the Kindle Cloud Reader on your PC or laptop and I believe there is a Kindle App for phones or tablets.

In any case, I was pointed to a thread on Spacebattles about the "Cradle" series by Will Wright. Never heard of it.

This week on Epic "Darq, Complete Edition". Also "Dagon" is free on GoG

Somebody is recommending a series called "Fellowship of Fantasy" free for a limited time on Amazon. If you don't have a Kindle, you can read it on your computer with Amazon's Kindle Online.
I haven't read them yet, having a huge backlog of reading (my Kindle is almost out of storage I've added too much stuff and I'm removing stuff as I read it).

This week on Epic "Avon Colony"
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/aven-colony

Also Amazon Prime is offering a free game to those who sign up. Apparently it also applies to those who already have Amazon Prime, so if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can claim a free game, among them "Dragon Age: Inquisition."

Seems to be a lot of Veterans Day giveaways.
I just got an alert on another board that Steam is offering a game called "Beholder" for free.
I would have missed it because I mistook it for "Eye of the Beholder" which I already have without Steam's DRM, but thought I'd relay it over here and so I clicked the link and found it was something else entirely.
    Steam's news:

Another Veteran's Day giveaway. Epic is offering "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, A Wonderlands Oneshot" and GoG is offering "Steamworld Dig 2"

I seem to be spamming this thread, as you can expect another post tomorrow.
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-...-dragon-keep-a-wonderlands-one-shot-adventure

Also available on Steam, but why would you want the DRM Steam version when you can get the DRM-free GoG version that you can backup and cannot be taken away from you?
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/571310/SteamWorld_Dig_2/

Also they seem to have added a couple new card games and a couple new shooters. I'm not that interested, but here's the link
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/free-games
Also don't forget you last chance for Avon Colony is today as tomorrow it will be replaced with "Rogue Company Epic Pack", a premium addon for the free game "Rogue Company."

GoG is offering "SteamWorld Dig 2" on giveaway now.

    https://www.gog.com/game/steamworld...k&pp=632667547e7cd3e0466547863e1207a8c0c0c549

Free for the next 18 hours.

"Cyberpunkdreams" is available on Steam for free
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1361680/cyberpunkdreams/

basically a card rpg like Fallen London where you are confronted with different situations and select a variety of actions to deal with them. You can spend money to refresh your actions or unlock a few different ones, but the vast majority of content is available for free. I tend to go back to it every six months or so to see what's been added.

I stumbled upon this thread on GoG.com looking for something else. I wasn't even logged in when I found it (as I found out when I tried to post on the other thread).
    https://www.gog.com/forum/general/f...s?pp=632667547e7cd3e0466547863e1207a8c0c0c549
They seem averse to including links, but modern browsers like Firefox and Chrome let you highlight the text, right click and do a Google or Bing search with ease. Quite a few gems get mentioned.

Also mentioned on there is this:
    https://osgameclones.com/
I recognize the Star Control 2 remake on that list "The Ur-Quan Masters", it was a good game when I played it over a decade ago and worked just fine on my old Dell Optiplex GX110 (1ghz, 512mb RAM) but I never tried it on more modern systems. I'm not sure if I ever tried it under XP, only Win98SE.

Next, on the subject I have to recommend an old game called Dungeon Master.
    http://dmweb.free.fr/
The Dungeon Master Encyclopedia has links to several clones that work on modern systems, but I keep forgetting if "Chaos Strikes Back" or "Return to Chaos" is the better one. One of them worked on the aforementioned ancient turn-of-the-millennium system just fine, but also works on my win10 computer but I haven't installed it since my hard drive crash last spring.

This week on Epic, 3 games I have never heard of and have no opinion on one way or the other. Seems they responded to the negative feedback about offering free premium content for a FTP game by giving away 3 games this week.
I'm just going to copy/paste the descriptions and you guys can try it and form your own opinions.

    Game #1: Guild of Dungeoneering
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/guild-of-dungeoneering-classic
Game #2: "Kid a Mnesia Exhibition"
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/kid-a-mnesia-exhibition
Game #3: Never Alone Kisima Ingitchuna
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/never-alone-kisima-ingitchuna
Also they seem to have several other games by "Riot Games, Inc" listed on the "free games" page, and some seem to be missing.
