Tonight in the chat we were discussing about when and how good do we sleep. Came out there are tons of insomniacs on SP... :D
Well, I'm not one of them, but when it comes to talk about sleeping I'm a real freak: when I don'thave classes in the morning I go to bed around 7 o'clock, and wake up around 14.
When there are classes, I go to sleep at 4 and I do a little "siesta" in the afternoon.
All of this just because I do everything better during the night, from studying to finding inspiration on my guitar (not to mention the fact that ALL the best films on tv start after midnight).
Night time fascinates me: I can't really explain why, it's all about its mystery, I guess.
Feel free to add your comments and personal experiences on the subject.

Well, being institutionalized kind of cuts down on my regular schedule... they actually complain that I should act like a "normal" person and not stay awake late... bah!

I like to stay awake long and sleep late, unless I have school which means staying up late and getting up early... or not sleeping at all. I'm good in it :D

Well, usually go to bed very late. Do that two days in a row. And then go to bed very early. And I keep that schedule up like since primar-school.

But I always, always wished to have the fantastic ability to do not need more sleep then 4 hours the day. Finishing a book at 3 in the morning and jumping out of bed, fully recovered, at 7. Ah, that would be fantastic.

Bed ~2330, up at 0500, five days a week. On weekends I get sleep until 0730 or so, son permitting.

I'll frequently wake up ~0230 and check SP - maybe I should chat  ! Other than that - and late-nights with Velcro, especially when gaming! - my "night side" is pretty well non-existent.

I usually go to bed somewhere after 00:00, and usually get up around 07:30. I can sleep anywhere, though I will awaken immediately when I hear things that aren't supposed to be in my surroundings when I sleep. Like someone opening my door, or walking in the corridor. I sleep best when my ex-girlfriend sleeps next to me. Just cuddle up together, and I'll be gone till morning ;)

@Faragon: yes, that truly helps a lot. However, one thing I don't understand: why are you using present tense with reference to an ex?

And now about my own night side:

In early holidays I went to bed at 4. Now it's late holidays and the peek of all debauchery, so I go to bed at 5 or 6, that is when I part #sorcerers. As you can easily guess from this, I contribute (pron. spam) there until that time. When people get slow or mute too much, I launch a game, deal with various correspondence, practice chess, flame people on the boards, write mighty paladin stuff, whatever. Sometimes I also drink and then my creativity rises significantly in quality, while I also become more sociable and outgoing ;)

I normally go to bed betwen 23:00 and 23:30 and get up at 5:00 on weekdays. On weekends (excluding January-April when I work 6 or 7 days a week in which case I follow my weekday schedule)I tend to go to bed between 23:30 and 1:30 and get up roughly eight hours later.

@Chev: Oh boy, here I go again.

My ex (I shall name her like that here. We never had anything official, but basically it came down to us having a relationship, so I feel justified to label her as an ex now it has ended.) and I have seperated a time or two before, but always returned to one another. I learned the hard way that going back to her (or allowing her back in for that matter) would be opening myself up for more of that soulsearing pain. Yet I know, that if I want to, the door to her chambers is always open to me. And that's tempting, because I know that when I'm with her, everything will be allright. It's when she's not with me, but with the other guy that the mindnumbing agony returns. And I no longer want to subject myself to that.

I hadn't really payed mind to how I formed that sentence. As you can see, my mind has itself made up, but my heart isn't completely willing to follow it yet. I hope this is making sense :D

@Rallymama: Thanks. I'm slowly starting to realise that, as well as that I no longer want to have anything to with the whole situation. It's tough to know that the person you love and want feels the same way, but that it can't be because it'll hurt three persons, badly. And I know I'll have to be strong for all (though mostly 'both') our sakes, because I know she won't be able to resist the urge. Which makes it even harder on me. But I have found new wisdom, and I draw strength from it. Hopefully it'll be enough when I'm confronted with that test of willpower. (Which will undoubtedly be when she comes back from vacation)

Back on topic though, when I'm drunk (which is rarely, but still) I sleep like a baby the moment I go flat on my bed. Often when I can't fall asleep, reading will do the trick. Just be sure that when you notice you're getting sleepy, you can just toss the book aside and turn off the light from your bed. If you have to get out, all the time spent getting sleepy will be wasted. There's also hot milk with honey which works nicely. :)

Morning Guy killed my 'night side'.

Everybody has a Morning Guy and an Evening Guy inside of him. Morning Guy wants to go to bed early, so he can get up early in the morning. Evening Guy wants to do all kind of fun things in the evening and/or night and go to bed as late as possible. Morning Guy and Evening Guy are archnemesis. Morning Guy badly wounded the Evening Guy in me, and he usually makes me go to bed at around twelve o'clock when I have nothing to do in the morning. If I have nothing to do in the morning, I get up between 8 and 9 o'clock. If I do have something specific to do the next morning, I usually go to bed a bit earlier, so I have plenty of time in the morning to prepare myself.
Sometimes however, Evening Guy regains enough strength and forces me to go to bed later then I actually want to, like 2,3 or rarely 4 am. Morning Guy doesn't like that and hates Evening Guy the next morning, making me regret I went to bed that late.

I actually hate getting up late, it makes me feel like I wasted the day and no matter how long I slept, I am tired the next day. And what can I say, I just need long sleeps.

As for how well I sleep. When I lay down in my bed, I'm gone within seconds (maybe minutes) and don't wake up until I hear that annoying buzzing sound.

Where did I get that from, Morning Guy and Evening Guy... probably Seinfeld.

@Faragon: I do know what you're talking about, heh.

Well, good luck on your will save. Amass as much bonus as you can ;)

Another thought: Perhaps you should make final return an option. If you split all the time, then something is really bad about your matching. On the other hand, you come back all the time without much inane deliberation on either side. This means that some strange magnetism is indeed involved. This time you would, however, need to sort things out properly.

But to pretend that I'm not being off-topic too much: 'tis 2:42 am as I look right SE from this tiny window in which I hammer in this ver message. I'm still spamming #sorcerers and don't really feel like sleeping. And I must get some sleep before the date tomorrow. Of course it's in a coffee-oriented cafe (where else? :D ), so I'll be able to get sufficiently incaffeinated in no time, but I'd rather keep my mind clear for the chess I'll be playing (no, it's not a metaphore  ). Speaking of clear mind, I must raid the fridge for some leftover beer to be actually able to fall asleep. Long live the fighters!

I often think about it too: if I didn't have to loose the capability of dreaming and remember my dreams, I'd like to sleep even less than that! Too much things to do...
@Sephiroth: that does not include wathcing porno!! :p :D

I live in the same timezone as Chev and we go to bed almost at the same time. However, I don't wake up until 15.00.
