The Fork of Horripilation is on one of the islands to the north of Vvardenfell, wasn't it? But only after you started the shrine quest for that crazy daedra.

    Or something - it's been a while.
Something like that, as far as I gather. Lots of people seem to like it. I don't know, I don't watch TV and don't listen to radio, but my girlfriend seems to like it, as do the people at her work.

I like the Weird Al Yankovic version better - it's called "Tacky"

It's become something of a cultural phenomena in North America.

The idea behind the pic is that the song is so encouraging of positivity to the point of sappiness, much like Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy". And of course, everyone would know Bat Man would be considerably more dour and cynical in comparison to the Pharrell Willilams that appears in the video. And so ...

Btw, I thought you of all people would have appreciated the idea behind the pic. :p

Oh, I do. I just don't really find it that funny. Might have something to do with the fact that I was never a fan of batman and his whining about his dead parents.

I think Batman is right. A little slap sobers people up before they do wicked things that needs a PC and a loyal party with willing elven priestesses to put right.

As long as some slip trough to make enough villains to fill games and movies, I say: Carry on!"

The problem with batman villains is that they always come back. Batman seems to lack the will to finish it once and for all, and apparently the asylum or prison or whatever passes for such in Gotham city has a revolving door installed. But a revolving door that only allows a single villain to be on the loose at a time, of course.

Depends on the setting. In some series, Wayne gets pretty brutal, but for the most part he has a no-kill policy. Same with Supes, really.

As for the prisons, some hold better than others, but generally there's a way out, so that they can keep writing stories. The reasons range from plausible to just insulting though. Plus, the villains' ability to bounce back is pretty silly. I hate recurring villains, personally. I feel like it ruins the sense of accomplishment for the characters, especially in RPGs, so I never use them and I get annoyed when I see them. But I do feel that comic book villains need to be recurring since people get more heavily invested in them, and they want to see them again.

The notable exception was when Bane let loose all of the villains all at once, forcing Batman to exhaust himself rounding them up, allowing Bane his chance at personal glory.

As for the movies, Joker still has the edge, but damn Bane was pretty badass too:

I hate recurring villains, too. Sure, I understand why they do it in comics and cartoons and even in TV series, commercial reasons and such, keep milking the cash cow.

I hate that reason for doing it, too.

In RPGs, or just games more generally and books I find it unforgivable. Just like the cliffhanger at the end of a game, preparing the story for a next instalment. Just give me a proper ending, please.

I'm re-watching old(er) flicks to counter-balance modern hollywood trash, and I'm always surprised how painfully obvious the difference in quality and substance actually is. It's like they've traded in for fancy visual effects and actors whose skill is measured in twitter followers.

I mean, it's not like it's some big secret, but it just really hits you when it's put into contrast.

    Hi Beren,
I have always thought of SP fondly but still didn't quite made it here. Work and life ...

    And Tal,
you're right that indeed a vile MMO (named LotRO) consumed up a lot of the rest of my available free time. A sad story. Though I find myself these days replaying Mass Effect (1 and then 2 and then 3 with one char) because I an at least temporarily tired of the mindless grind-for-rep that comes with every MMO expansion. Storyweise, and as far as atmosphere goes, LotRO is pretty good.

    hi BTA,
since I noticed the announcement for Pillars of Eternity (though Pillars of Infinity would have been a nice allusion) the odds are that SP will se me reappear, at least somewhat. I like what I saw.

It's only moderately fun - I ran into a guy who I went to art collage with a long time ago and he told me that he's always liked me... and get this! He's still 6 years younger than me but now somehow I don't see that as particularly important.

He was just a friend in college but now he's a bouncer and damn cute ....

@ dmc - no I'm afraid I've just been having fun for now ;)
