Is it just me or do other people get lost/frustrated in the forest you have to travel through before you can reach the monastery and go through the underdark?

Just use the Wilderness Lore skill and you'll eventually get thru the Fell Wood.

I have found it to be a pain to try to find my way through (neither a druid nor a ranger in my party). However, the pain is softened by the fact that it is a source of cheap experience points. The Restless Dead are easy kills. Just carry a few Lesser Restoration potions from Venla with you.

Oh...I just passed through them and it didn't occur to me to use the wilderness lore skill...I'll keep that in mind for next time though! :D

It feels like drawing maps yourself how you did it in older RPGs. Like in the old games it can be quite fun using brain, a pen and a piece of paper to create a systematic overview over the labyrinth. It's only frustrating until you realize that you need external resources.

Wilderness Lore is good but another help is junk. Drop the junk on places you have been; at the start of paths you have taken.

Ranger, druid, or barbarian will get the job done with Wilderness Lore. Heck, even a cleric can be ok with wilderness lore, given that that cleric will have a high WIS bonus to add to the WL skill.

Yeah I drew a few maps and dropped junk...but it gets frustrating when parts of the map keep crossing. I hate having to redraw it.

I drew a map the first time. Then I really wanted to do everything without help. Now I just use walkthroughs for that really booring part of the game.

A friend of my friend was actually so frustrated at it that he uninstalled IWD2 at that point.

My first time was painful, boring and really annoying. I tried to draw maps too but I just could not understand the logic of the woods, some areas looked same, whilst they were, totally different. Had to drop some arrows to ground, and even then it all became frustrating fast. I had no idea about wilderness lore, so I had to use a walkthrough, I know, it is shameful, but I was a very newbiesh player that time, this was my very first IE game and I was still playing on VERY easy setting and still thinking the game was very challenging.

So I HATED the Fell woods, but now I am kinda neutral to it. I might even like it, it has a cool atmosphere IMHO, but old memories are not forgotten easily. :p
