Finished Torment a time or two and have been pretty disappointed with the last few games I have bought- Baldur's Gate I, Ice Wind Dale. Can anyone recommend some kickass games that similiar to Torment? I really enjoyed having to figure out mysteries, the expanded dialogue choices, instead of just hack and slash kill and acquire cash crap. Any advice appreciated.

    Peace

Torment is the only one of this kind you'll find among the IE games. The most dialogue you'll see is in BG2 & ToB, but nothing with the feel of Torment.

Fallout(s) (1 and 2, others are stupid actions) is closest one I think. However, it's not ADD and it takes place in post catastrophic earth. Story is very good (but not so good as PST). As much as I like fantasy settings more, I liked this games a lot.

Thanks for the input. I think I will probably try BG2 since I just finished with the first one.
I also liked Pool of Radiance quite a bit too. Limited dialogue wise, but I liked the fast pace. I also liked the combat system better with POR.

    Peace

There are some NWN mods out there that you may enjoy.

Other than that, BG2 is about the closest out there.

Deus Ex is similar in terms of depth of story, but it is a first person game also. And not fantasy. But still very good.

i heard that Divine Divinity has a very good plot as well... it's not AD&D (i don't think) but i have heard the plot is almost as good as PS:T... i've purchased the game but haven't actually played it yet...
i'm close to finishing up PS:T and will check out Divine Divinity afterwards and post back if anyone is interested :)

I'd say Arcanum before Deus Ex. Long before.

Yeah, nothing quite gets to the same kind of dynamic level of Torment. You get nailed, all the way across the board. Dark and dreary areas. Mysterious and adventurous areas. Divine areas. Areas with skantly clad chicks. Willpower and faith.

Torment is a huge blend. Unlike any other. It could definately stand to be redone, sometime in the future.

Concerning Storyline and depth of the characters, the truth is as bitter as simple. There is no other game that is as fascinating as PS:Torment.

He said it looks promising, not that it is as good as Torment in every way.

Right, on launch it probably won't be as interesting (party wise, in any case). The builders are *very* into the Planescape setting though, and it wouldn't suprise me, if before too long you could have nice fully rendered Modron henchman, or Tanari, or flaming floating wizards, or whatever. Some of their demon models are looking great.

Purely speculation at this point anyway.

Do we own the same pool of radiance?

Back on topic: You should try Arcanum or the fallout games, if you didnt like IWD or BG I doubt you'll like the sequels

@ jesper, POR (with it's turn based combat system) did give us more options and more time to decide what to do. didn't love NVN at all but IWD1 and 2 are very nice.

[IMG] Oh my god, its Nordom.

Well ok, its just a modron, but damn... when that thing gets skinned, its going to look great.

I think the City of Doors Initiative needs its own forum on SP, I wasn't sure whether to post this here or on the NWN forum. The demon/devil/yugoloth models those guys have made are unbelievable. They put Bioware to shame.

    Edited to add a Dabus.

IWD2 is stupid game. You only kill everything in the area (whats more: usualy small one) and go to another. No (good) storyline. No NPCs. Boooooooooring...

(i liked BG series A LOT)
