What are the benefits of advancing above level 20, when your thac0 doesn't improve, nor do rogue skills or spell slots (at least not much) and there are no HLA's? Is it only HP and weapon profs?

I like the higher level area-effect spells. Firestorm and acid storm. Also, casting times drop, as well increased durations. It's more of an "optimization" rather than new abilities. Your spells hit harder with increased success.

As for the melee stuff, I agree with you. It's at the top of the curve. Although, I find that my cleric and paladin do some serious damage just standing at the middle of my party and Turning stuff. More often than not, it never reaches hand-to-hand; all the gibbs cause an update lag, though.

i think the highest level is called God-hood or something, but i am pretty sure that only HP,weapon profs. and new spell slots can come past 20(im not sure though!!!)

Well, I think that the highest possible level is 30... The Godhood is after that... I wish I could enter it now... :) It's also level thirty for multiclassed characters... For singleclassed the cap is 8 million... But for the multiclassed it depends of the clas - e.g. for a mage/thief its a 7,5 million for each class... I forgot what was it for the fighter/cleric of the fighter/thief... :)

[IMG] Ah, godhood. Now this is an area that I know a bit about in D&D 2nd Edition. Yes you can become a god but usually you have to have performed many great services to one god in particular and have gained plenty of levels (25th level in any one class is the norm) in order to get to be a god. In order to become a god in FR you have to be able to pick up the powers of a dead god or kill a god yourself and usurp that god's powers. Finder Wyvernspur killed Moander and became a god that way. Read Song of the Saurials to find out more :D Of course you can't become a god in the PC game. Though, that would be nice.

Oh well, we know how it is in d&d rules. But IWD is quite a bit different. Some things are implement, some are not. In IE games there are changes, additions, exclusions.... Let's just talk about IWD.

Yeah, no goblin kills a 15th class character with two bows w/o critical damage in ad&d just like the goblins in HoW mode.

Azuth was the most powerful mage in the world. He kicked asses "all around the world" like Oasis. And he picked up the god of mages and magic and beated up him like Shcwarzeneger. He took his essence for many years and after that he was sponsored by Mystra to became the god of all the spellcasters... Personally he is traning all the Magistres - the most powerful near-immortal mages of of all countries...
