Not much rain here in Poland, except it rained all day yesterday, morning to evening, though timidly.

Germay is always close to everyone everywhere
However you might have forgotten that Austria currently does not belong.

Aaand - the next formerly submerged bomb was disarmed. This time even closer (the last stuff was in Koblenz around 20 km from me) in Neuwied (the city part of Neuwied is "Irlich"). Just across the river from my town.

9000 had to evacuate in Irlich and the other parts of Neuwied. From my town the harbour, the industrial park and - the CEMETERY were off limits for yesterday.

How come they immediately start looking for bombs as soon as the Rhine retreats a bit further than usual?

They do not even go out looking for bombs. Pedestrians walking the way along the riverways occasionally spot some dark barrel or something that looks like a gun or a bomb and report it to the police and then it is checked out if it is something like that - or in many other cases perhaps just an old oil barrel or a tree trunk looking weird. And with the water retreated like it hasn’t for a decade quite a lot of stuff in the river can be seen and safely exploded or removed.

In another case I read about a few months ago, unrelated to the low water, it was a WW2 handgrenade found in a forest.
Hint: If you find old ammuition or grenades in a lonely part of the forest, DO NOT carry it with you to the next inn to drop it off there for the police...

We've had an idiot dig up an air raid bomb (with his small kids playing around) and transport it to his house a while ago. They had to evacuate the entire area to detonate it. It seriously boggles the mind how stupid some people can be.

Don't blame GDPR, anyone who refuses to comply with simple transparency directives is either shady or extremely lazy (or both), especially when it comes to journalism.

I'm not blaming it really, I know that it simply comes down to the fact that they're not making enough money off EU visitors to bother making any changes, so it's easier for them to just block all EU traffic.

A news outlet that cares more about money than about conveying the truth to as wide an audience as possible? Color me shocked.

Yes, indeed, it does not. For us Europeans, anyway.

That's really mind bending, that's our local newspaper. Anyway, someone made a homemade bomb and exploded it off in their car with his child and a local neighbor and his dog talking through the window. Amazingly the dog survived but the street looked like a nuke hit it!

Wait, he intentionally detonated it with him and his kid inside the car or by accident?

Does not work for me either. Is the newspaper really named "The Morning Call"? That sounds to me like having issues with your bladder when waking up and not like something about news...

I get wanting to end your life, maybe give one last middle finger to your neighbor while you're at it, but why take the kid with you? Prick.

I wish I could be shocked, but the States pretty much have individuals resorting to extreme violence on a daily basis and the System is failing all of them. Not that it's much better elsewhere...

I have very little hope for humanity these days. Reading the news just makes me wanna blast into space and start again. :shake:
