Are there any magical katanas in this game?

I'm trying to map out a kensai but I don't know if I should go for a katana or not?

Unless they added some, no. You can open up NI and check the SW1H*.ITM files.

In my first play-through of IWD:EE my F/T specialized in katanas and I was surprised to find plenty of them. Good ones, too.

There's not a lot of katanas to be had, there's only 2 named ones. - remember that the Scimitar/Wakizashi/Ninjatō category blades, while some look a lot like katanas actually have their own proficiency. There's plenty of generic katanas +1 and +2, but the only unique ones i know of are Darkened glory +2 (+5% chance of critical hit, and casts Curse each time you score a critical hit.) and Solemn Duty +3. (immune to confusion, 3% chance of decapitation.)

Darkened Glory +2 can be found on the 5th level of dragon's eye.
Solemn Duty +3 can be bought from Nym's store.

Please don't do that, apostrophes are not used to indicate plurality except in very rare cases (like single letters to indicate correct reading). Greengrocers' apostrophes are bad, m'kay? :p

I'm somewhat surprised that they added any considerable amount of them into the game, but I suppose it wouldn't be right to have a proficiency and then not providing any weapons that make use of it.

i wasn't actually sure if i should add them or not for katanas, so i just went with it. Concidering that english is not my first language, i think i'm allowed some mistakes.

And while they added in some magical types of the newly added weapons, you're still beter off going for the types that were in bg1 originally simply because they are either more prevalent, and often more powerful or even both.
There are far more long swords available for example, enough of them +3 or better. You can even find two Longswords of Action +4 to dualwield if you'd so wish in a single playthrough.

Bah, it's not mine either and you basically live just a puddle away from the UK. ;)

I'm actually quite forgiving of grammatical mistakes, but there are some that just rub me the wrong way. :D

Yeah, those were the two named ones I used. Although a quick look at my save tells me that I was mistaking Valiant +2 (extra attack per round scimitar) as a katana. Woops. That's what I get for giving both proficiencies to a single character. Before that I was using a +1 found right in Kresselack's tomb and a generic +2 from somewhere. Don't forget that Solemn Duty is +5 to hit and damage outer plane creatures.

They also added a few valuable monk-only items too.
