I'm looking for a lot of potions of defense for my kensai. Will I be able to find many? If I buy some will the store keepers restock at any time? Maybe after I come out from the Underdark?

i know that the adventurers mart "restocks" once you start chapter 6 ( you canask ribald for his special items)
I'm actually not sure about other shops restocking/resetting their inventory.
There's a bunch of different merchants that sell potions though, so just buy them as you come across them ?

Yea I found a couple places I didn't know about like the seller in the Underdark. I always grab them from that guy in the sewers. He has a nice selection. Are any of them actually poison? All the dif pots I've ever bought from him have never been poison but maybe I just used the good ones so far :borg:

As a general rule, no. There's no easy stock-handling mechanism in the engine, so for a merchant to restock, they have to either swap their entire store file, which is bad because it can cause duplicate items and forces the player to lose access to anything inside the previous store, or offer an entirely new stock in a separate store (e.g. "special items"). Either way, it doesn't happen very often. Be smart with your usage if you rely heavily on consumables.

there's no actual poison potions in the game. There's a few damaging potions, like Oil of Fiery Burning, and Potion of Explosions that do area fire damage though.
There's a few weapons that apply poison damage, and the thief kit assassin gets the poison weapon ability. There's also the 4th level priest spell poison, but that's about all the methods of applying poison damage i can think of.

I'm fairly certain he was referring to the "oddly colored" potions that poison you, instead of providing the expected result, not potions that apply poison to attacks...

    Yes what Keneth said. :p
So then there ARE potions like that? So if I drink one I'll be poisoned instead of the hopefull effect?

There are fake potions, yes. I'm not entirely sure what their effects are, although it should be fairly easy to find out with the help of EEK and NI. Fake potions, scrolls, and cursed items are far more prominent in BG1 than they are in BG2 though.

ah, i completely forgot about those. :D
by now i'm able to tell them apart from their normal counterparts just from their appearance, also they usually have something in their description about having a murky quality or seeming off somehow, which should be enough warning.
