    ... and don't panic.

    Actually one of the few movie adoptations where the movie was better than the book (generally speaking and IMO, of course). Also Ford is kind of an ***hole in the books.

    Disagree completely. Of the four (radio, books, TV, movie), the radio series was best, then the books, then the movie. TV series sucked.

    Never knew there was a radio and TV series as well. I just thought that the characters were more likeable in the movie. Acting was fairly good as well, I thought. Mr Douglass's writing doesn't appeal to me that much. Also the movie was more of a whole story, instead of several short stories spread over 3-4 books.

    I thought the tv series was a riot. Never heard the radio show and was disappointed by the movie (except the cameo by Marvin from the series). Books rule ... as they usually do.

    I have to disagree as well, the books were pretty sweet. I primarily enjoyed the movie because of Zooey, and eye candy only gets you so far.

    Gambling isn't something you should be doing at character creation. It doesn't even work well for single-player games. :shake:

    Well in real life people are generally born with unplanned stats. Some people start their life out with ones and twos and others are born into sixes and drop down to threes when they wake up from their pampered lives. Wonky rolls might make the roll-playing experience a little more interesting.

    Your roleplaying experience is as interesting as you make it. You don't need a bad dice roll to make an interesting character, you'll get plenty of those during actual gameplay.

    I can't recall a single instance where rolling my stats made me like my character more, and I've been playing D&D since the preferred method of stat generation was 6x 3d6 in order.

    All it really does is breed party imbalance right from the get go. It doesn't even work in computer games, you're just gonna keep rolling until you're satisfied anyway.

    To date, from all the official methods, Pathfinder's point buy system is by far the one I liked most in any d20 game. It's fair, balanced, and allows you to make the kind of character you want.

    Back when I played D&D, our group's general consensus was that the game was really a method for the DM to tell a good story that everyone else was an active participant in. We were the heroes, so higher than normal rolls were expected. We would pretty much agree on anything that wasn't blatantly cheating. Sometimes, it was 5x4d6 plus 1x5d6 (for the prime stat) where you could decide what you wanted to make in advance and force the 5d6 roll for that stat while arranging the others as you saw fit. Sometimes, it was 7x4d6, keep the best 6 rolls and assign as you like. Didn't really make much of a statistical difference in the long run, but we enjoyed it.

    I just think people do whatever they want and as long as they are happy, who cares?
