Phantom cigarette syndrome?

I mostly chewed on stuff when I quit. Toothpicks, pencils, whatever.

 

Saw a movie once, I believe with Danny Devito. Plot was that if the person lit an other cigarette, someone would die.

 

I'm pretty sure that's what happens anyway. People are dying all the time. Who's to say its not because people are lighting cigarettes. I mean, could be? Okay, cause and effect are doubtful, but even still....

 

About 150,000 people die every day. Roughly 15 billion cigarettes are smoked every day.

At that ratio, you can be a chain smoker for your entire life and you will have only killed a handful of people.

Note: This is assuming the false premise that all those people die from someone smoking a cigarette, which is obviously not the case irl.

Smoking is a disgusting habit though. At least as far as cigarettes go.

 

This implies that there is another kind of smoking which is ok. I'm 100% ok with "that" smoking too -- and obviously I was ok with cigarettes, at least until last Thursday.

 

I actually fully support smoking marijuana as an adult, it's been shown to have a wide variety of positive effects and, as a recreational drug, it's much safer than pretty much anything else, including alcohol and cigarettes. It can, however, seriously impact a child's brain development when used on a regular basis.

As for all the other drugs you can smoke (crack, meth, opium, PCP, etc.), including cigarettes, I find their abuse unacceptable.

Note: That is not to say that potheads aren't generally annoying and often disgusting creatures. Obviously, abusing any substance, even "safe" ones, is bad in the long run.

 

Well, you and I are on the same page here.

So Easter was yesterday, any o' you done anything special ? I went to see the familly, nothing special. Although the logistic of sitting and feeding 20 person was a bit tedious.

 

I don't celebrate Easter. Or any other holidays really, but especially religious ones.

My country also celebrates Easter Monday though, so I'm sure a lot of people like having an extended weekend.

 

An extra day of doing almost nothing. Did some gardening.

I went swimming four days in a row followed by a bike ride this evening. Seems I've replaced all my bad habits with exercise. Could be worse I guess.

What's wrong with philately?

 

Besides being boring as **** ? Look ! Look ! It's a 1952 stamp ! With that unique feature that isn't remotely interresting in any way shape or form.

 

I'm not sure - he seems to be a little depressed, but I'm sure he'll get over it eventually.

 

just had to pay equivalent to £1600 to get my car worth £900 fixed for validation. And I work with car spareparts so I get them cheap(er)! Denmark pulled the short end of the stick with cars. Each 2nd year it is mandatory to get your old car validated. and we pay 180% in taxes when we buy a car. yup. 180%. A car costing £1000, cost £1800 extra just in taxes. yummy! So most of us are stuck with old cars needing validation. Only cpt. Kirk could win this scenario.

Well gotta work longer shifts I guess, and enjoy all the wonders I am priviledged with in the western world. *pops open a beer*
