Hey guys. Pretty tired today- could not get to sleep last night and ended up tossing and turning for hours (and not even in a good way...). Can't even work out why, although I think I may have made some progress with a philosophical problem I've been wrestling with. Ah well, onwards!

On a note that is only interesting to me: I need to buy shaving cream. My quasi-beard* is itching like hell

    * Not grown enough to be actually called a beard, but still enough to be noticeable.

My wife was going to have her gall bladder removed on Dec. 08, but now it'll be done in Mid January. She is pissed, I am happy, because I don't have to miss a day of work and the accompanying wages.

Am I the only one who thought it was odd that you said she was "pissed" about the "gall bladder" operation? :hahaerr:

ION, someone at work wrote a Word document with a hyperlink but didn't put on the right web address so I had previously corrected the document. As I found out the hard way today, just correcting the text on the page doesn't correct the actual hyperlink... *grumble, grumble* *grumble*

This day started out great with me involved in doing Vaing for the Baldur's Gate II Redux project and posting on another site with a VA Guild all about because I thought it would be interesting. Well they got intereste. Then I got in an arugment with an Administrator  7 + years on SP with only a few minor infractions and 1 year 4 months on the other site and I can't stay out of trouble. Does that suggest to you that maybe I have the wrong personality for the other site?

Then my computer decided to act up, cleaned out cookies without my permission. Then I forgot to check the cats water. They got a bit upset. Got that fixed anyway.

    Morg,
my impression is that you have winter.

In Munich, where I'll go on Thursday, it's -14° and knee deep snow. I'm actually looking forward to it.

You'll know what winter truly is when you've experienced -30 C in a snow blizzard with 60 cm of snow on the ground :p

On the relative scale of things, it was a heck of a lot colder here. It was 35 degrees fahrenheit this morning (under 2 degrees celcius) when I dropped my daughter off. I know all you cold weather types are sneering at that, but it's freakin' southern California. We aren't supposed to get that cold, and certainly not in November!

    Luxury!

I remember one day in September when I was growing up here in Winnipeg. It was -85 F (we weren't metric at the time), snowing heavily, 70mph winds, and snow drifts 14 feet high. When we went out to clear the snow (using our mom's teaspoons because we couldn't afford a shovel), we were attacked by polar bears and wolves. One of them bit off my arm, but I got the arm back and use it to bludgeon the beasts until they finally ran away. Fortunately the cold temperatures served to both preserve the arm and make it less painful when I reattached it to my shoulder using a stapler and a makeshift needle and thread (actually a rusty nail and string). It was all worth it, though, when we were rewarded with a mug of hot chocolate (made from a 6 month old chocolate bar wrapper soaked in warm water). :yum:

Ashley's poorly so it's a case of 'Hello Mr. Grumpy-bum' with him at the moment. He's very rarely ill so he doesn't get why he's feeling so rubbish

I live in Montréal, not Québec dude..

I'll reiterate my love for Montréal if only to exacerbate DotW, it amuses me :p . I'm not blind, I know this province has got problems, no place on earth is perfect ! But there's an undeniable joie de vivre

It's an island, I like going to the port and see the many ships coming and going. So many different flags and ship names. Its original Iroquoian name "Hochelaga" means " Where we spend the winter " -- I dunno why but that bit of trivia has always made me laugh... I guess it's as a good a name as any  Better than Montréal, which amusingly enough, is kinda a typo. The name [that is the island's name] is derived from the Mount Royal, the mountain on the island but the original map was printed in Italy, so the name got "Italianised" or something and the spelling remained. But before being called that, the original settlement was Ville-Marie (City of Mary).

this useless trivia presented to you by The Flix

As I was typing my post above, I pictured Monty posting what he did. I'm glad he didn't let me down. :D
