Definitely a new game. NWN2 does not have a very good engine. It looks considerably dated and yet is a resource hog.

I voted for a new expansion as I didn't really mind the engine, enjoyed the game and expansions, and they could probably get it out faster :)

I haven't played NWN2 but from what I've read on the boards there are way too many issues with performance and camera.

I've been playing DAO a lot and to be blunt I don't care about the NWN franchise anymore. Besides, if DAO has proven one thing, it's that the D&D system is probably not the best system for a CRPG anyway (at least not a "modern" CRPG, it probably worked better with the old IE games).

New game for me for two reasons. One being camera in NWN2 and other is that I almost always prefer new game than just expansion.

And a bit off topic: I really like D&D system so much more than that used in DAO (which I find bad or maybe very bad).

I voted a new game too, dispite NWN2 being about 3 years since completion, there's still a multitude of issues, especially with the DM client. I think it would be far easier to remake the whole thing than it would to fix the problems that exist.

Uhm...its not possible to make a new Neverwinter. Every video game that has the Wizards Of The Coast logo on it, has to use the current up to date version of the rules and such. Well in this case it will be 4th edition, and in 4th ed they have destroyed both Neverwinter and Luskan. Utterly. Its all gone.

That's not really anything more than a challenge in creativity, since this is a fantasy game we're talking about. Not to mention that you can name a game one thing and play something else entirely anyway. You didn't walk around Baldur's Gate city in BG2 much, did you? ;)

Baldur's Gate 2 didn't have anything to do with the city of Baldur's Gate, yet was still named after it. The NWN name is relatively known in gaming circles so using it for sequels would make sense. [got ninja'd by Taluntain]

As for the poll, I'd say a new game. There are obviously the engine issues, but what really killed that game is the lack of a strong community. Look at the first NWN: the stuff that you get in the box when you buy it isn't that impressive. It's what was created with the toolset, single player modules and PWs alike, that made the game great. NWN2 never had that chance, possibly because of engine issues and the fact that it was more or less competing against Oblivion.

There is a great community with NWN2, I have a great deal of experience with various PWs, but they are often limited and held back by dodgy engine troubles or TERRIBLE DM client issues.

I'll admit not having much experience with the multiplayer scene in NWN2, but as far as single player goes, the community is nothing compared to that of NWN1. The game did get some great modules, but off the top of head I can probably count them on a single hand. Some of them were also supposed to be part of series, but were eventually abandoned by their respective authors.

NWN2 story was a big improvement over NWN1. I really enjoyed the ability to control more than one NPC and it was nice having a group again. It would be nice if they updated the game a bit more but with the new edition I thought NWN was no more.
