    Isnt this like the third then? Or is it one of the old ones? I know an American girl did and made a bundle then some Romanian girl did but "only" got €10k or maybe it was 100k but a lot less than the American. I think it is pretty screwed up but not much more so than any other kind of prostitution. I wonder what kind of sleazebag would be willing to pay for such a thing so publically and that amount.

    I've heard of this type of "auction" several times before... it was in the news because they even tried it on eBay, but the auction there didn't last long.

    Well, looking at it rationally, it's a good deal... if she can find a sucker willing to pay crazy money for it vs. losing it to some guy that she will or won't be with a year later, the first option is definitely better. What's more baffling here is that this gets on CNN - good grief, slow news day? Maybe they should start featuring daily specials at the Bunny Ranch? :rolleyes:

    Yeah, the link says it's the Bunny Ranch, which is supposedly one of the most famous brothels in Nevada. (Not that I've ever been there - that's just what they said in the link.) Also, since Nevada is one of the very few (only?) states in which prostitution is legal, she won't be facing any prostitution charges. So I agree that this is prostitution, but it isn't illegal.

    My real thoughts on this are, of course, twofold. On the one hand I'm of the opinion that she can do what she wants if it's legal, which it is in the county where she will be doing it, but what kind of moron would spend a lot of money on a virgin (if you're paying for sex, I would think you would want a pro rather than a very inexperienced amateur)?

    On the other hand, if it were my daughter, I'd have a freakin' heart attack. Double standards are great, aren't they?

    I imagine that if prostitution is legal, advertising it is also probably legal. I would hazard a guess that there are several billboards in the county where the Bunny Ranch is located advertising their services. I had always assumed that the reason soliciting was illegal was because prostitution was illegal.

    (In nearly all cases if something is illegal, then attempting to perform the illegal action is also illegal - even if the attempt is unsuccessful - and carries a similar punishment. Attempting to shoot someone and missing is just as much of a crime as successfully shooting someone. The legal system does not reward you for being a lousy shot.)

    Ah, but if something is strictly controlled, it's advertising can also be strictly controlled. I seem to recall some states (or counties?) have ordinances governing where you can and can't drink (in your home, registered bars, I think that's it), and also control where you can advertise alcoholic drinks (on bar property, not billboards or on TV, etc.).

    Still, if she's doing it all legally, then I just think she's an idiot, and whoever is willing to pay to sleep with her is a serious perve!
