[IMG] To spread a bit of late Christmas cheer, I've decided that since the infractions and official warnings don't go away from the user records once they've expired, it'd be nice to do something about that. So, today those users who have been good and got the message that they received an infraction/warning over will have all of them cleared from their profiles.

The lucky winners are: coineineagh, Drew, Death Rabbit, Barmy Army, Jechor and Enagonios.

Thus far we've been a bit inconsistent in the use of the infraction/warning system so a lot of people who got warnings didn't get them via the infraction system. In the future, we'll try to issue all warnings via the infraction system as well, just to keep things more organized. Since I don't see any need to keep a permanent record of issued infractions/warnings with those users who "got the idea", I expect I'll be clearing them from the profiles at least once a year. This naturally does NOT mean that if your infraction got deleted once that you can't get it again for the same thing... it simply means that your infraction(s) will completely go away eventually if our mod squad decides that you've been in compliance with our rules long enough.

I'm surprised Splunge wasn't on the list....

Cool. I've been carrying around the stigma of my "Too Damn Cool Fo Da Room" infraction for far too long. :)

I know that people can get tellings off for using bad grammer and things but if you have a problem (ie Dyslexia) with the written word then should you just tell a mod?

Pff. I don't have any infractions now, erm...

    ARSEBISCUITS!

That should do it. Or will I need to say indecent things about the moderators mothers?

Silvery, yes, in fact, that's covered in the rules. Quoting from rule #8: "[If you have an actual disability like dyslexia that prevents you from complying with the above, please mention that in your introductory post in our Sorcerous Sundries forum once you start posting or inform us of your disability via PM so that we know that you are doing your best even if your posts are sometimes hard to understand.]"

But really, we haven't reprimanded anyone for grammar or spelling in a really long time, because it's rarely bad enough to warrant it unless someone is doing it on purpose. We're not the comma police; as long as posts are understandable, they're ok. We'll usually just send a hint message when for example someone posts a compact wall of text instead of splitting it up with paragraphs to make it easier to read.

Barmy, given how long you've been around, keeping that up would move you ahead of the line to the Idiot plaque. There's only so much leeway we can give anyone and regulars aren't immune to sanctions either. There are better ways to be funny.

    *sigh*

If you don't know what I'm like by now there's sumat wrong, I'm not nasty and don't mean anything. Learn to have a laugh, jesus. I think perhaps I should move on and not visit here anymore. My personality clashes with this place and all you history teachers.

I know that you don't mean anything by it but just because you don't doesn't mean that we can always make exceptions in your case but enforce the rules for everyone else. I'm sure you realize that can't work. We can't say "ok, Barmy can swear/insult as he likes, but no one else is allowed to". It's either everyone or no one. That's the only way to be fair to everyone. I really don't think that you have a biological need to swear in your posts for example so it REALLY shouldn't be that hard not to do it. That's what smilies and adjectives are for. Everyone else can manage it without too much difficulty. But sure, I can't force you to comply with anything - you either want to make that little effort or you don't.

Is "arsebuscuits"* considered a bad word? Because it's pretty awesome... :)

    * How about its American translation, "butt cookies?"

    Haha, that is ironic...

And BA, please stay, we need some dirty humor every once in a while... plus, butt-cookies isn't that bad of a word anyway.

Agreed. I've seen alot worse here (and been guilty of it myself). Of course, that isn't to say that I'm not next in line for an IOTW award. :heh:

It would be quite ironic if someone got a warning from something they posted in the thread announcing people who have had their warnings taken away.
