[IMG]The Dark Throne is a new Kickstarter game from developer Brett Munro. He is asking for £20,000 to help fund the development of his game. Here are the details.

The Dark Throne is an open-world adventure game with action and RPG elements for Windows, Mac and Linux. The game is a throwback to some great PC games of the 90's, including the DOS-style pixelated visuals. It will have modernized mechanics (free aim) and RPG level progression, but don't worry, there's no cover system or QTE!
    • RPG elements including character progression, weapon upgrades and trading with merchants.
    • Free aim - Upper body is seperated from your lower body, so you can walk in one direction while aiming another.
    • Classic camera style - fixed/directed camera, but also a behind/shoulder.
    • Open world where you can go anywhere. No decorative doors.
The idea sprouted from a yearning for a more old-school gameplay style, as seen in the first three Resident Evil games. Some of my favourite games use this style - Resident Evil, Bioforge, Dino Crisis, Ecstatica, Alone in the Dark and Dark Earth. They use fixed camera angles and are slower paced.

Why don't they make games like that anymore? Well, with your backing, we can. (And you can save me from having to make mobile games.)
