My friend recently showed me this game and I've been playing around with it... I was just wondering: How do bound weapons compare with others. I can't find anything anywhere about how much damage they do. I would expect that they increase with your level but I haven't been able to find anything about it anywhere

For a warrior? Decent a.k.a. does a bit more damage than most weapons until you start leveling Blacksmithing. Since Blacksmithing is standard issue for fighter types, bound weapons should only be useful for them early on. For a wizard-type they're weapons you can summon at will so you can coat them with poisons - since you're not interested in how much damage they actually do then they can be indispensable.
The exception is the bound bow, which will be useful up until your Blacksmithing skill is much higher. |

Well so far I have kinda of an assassin type person. I use a dagger most the time... when I can sneak up on someone cuz I get that crazy bonus. I use my bound weapons when I am forced into a fair fight lol. I was just wondering if they were gonna suck later in the game. Thanks!

Bound weapons do NOT increase in damage as you increase your level. As your conjuration skill increases, the magicka cost to cast them goes down. The only thing you can do to increase the damage of a bound weapon is to pick up the conjuration perk Mystic Binding (which has Novice Conjuration as a prerequisite perk).
As for damage, a bound sword does as much damage as a steel sword if you don't have Mystic Binding, but as much damage as a daedric sword with Mystic Binding. That is to say that it's a great weapon in the early part of the game. If you work on blacksmithing, you'll soon be able to forge swrods that have much higher damage than that, but until that time comes, bound swords are solid choices. My recently completed ranger used bound swords (with Mystic Binding perk) for the early part of his career, and he had no problems. (Note - the prerequisite of Novice Conjuration isn't that bad, as bound sword is a novice conjuration spell - so at least you'll get something for that prerequisite.) |
